^^^ I agree its kinda moot, especially when you're of the frame of mind like myself, that the buyer is always 50% of the equation when setting price.

Kids who can steal their parents credit cards. Also it was clear that beer was never going to be what caused the media firestorm, but it would get caught in the crosshairs of things that could conceivably cause harm, like vodka. Note that the kid bought Grey Goose, not Goose Island.

And the amount of work that went into staging this was basically zero. All it took was someone being made aware of it. I'm wondering how the producers thought of this, the Hill Farmstead hullabaloo is a plausible route.

So......why not just change the policy to require sellers to ship with a 21 or older signature required? If the USPS shipping is intertwined with eBay/PayPal why can't UPS/Fedex?

There's still that whole "liquor license" problem.

the amount of work was not zero, a news investigative unit facilitated this to make a point. the amount of logic, particularly from a kid's perspective, was zero imho.

let me put it realistically - kids that would steal their parents credit card are WAY more likely to STEAL THEIR PARENTS liquor than to log onto to Ebay & buy collectibles. let's not confuse what's POSSIBLE with what's PROBABLE.

I dunno, they were fine with it for a long long time. If they weren't getting heat from the underage stuff they'd still be allowing it. Requiring an adult signature would pretty much solve the problem from eBay's side of things. Sticking with the collectable container angle.

And if we start getting into the liquor license argument you have to start rolling traders into it.

I really think you're missing my meaning here. I don't think is common or happening often or really even at all. I just knew that as soon as some TV News producer found out that it was possible they'd do it and then it would get banned.

Also, it's "basically zero" because finding a 13-year-old, giving them a credit card and asking them to purchase some booze is very, very little work. This had to come in way under budget compared to a normal segment of this length.
