I feel like I've had the best beer I could have. I really thought about this, and just don't see it. Either Heady Topper or some of Shaun Hill's brews are as good as I could ask. Maybe an imperial zombie dust. I didn't think KR Citra was super special, but ZD is great and only a pale ale so.

Gotcha.

I'm no professional brewer, but is there a reason you couldn't dry-hop the ale after aging it in the wine barrels? That way you get the wine character and brett funk without sacrificing all that great hoppy aromatic goodness. Just throwing that out there, maybe there's a valid reason to shoot it down.
