At some point I think Scream should stop qualifying as a Thumbprint. It's just a year round offering at a higher price

Take it a step further. Not only are they retreads, but they are generally fruits beers (not that that is a bad thing). They clearly have a target market. ... I would love to see a heavy in the 10%abv range. Perhaps a quad or English barleywine.

Definitely agree. I wish they would remove it and make an opening for something else. I basically gave up on scream with their weird code dating.

To be clear I'm not saying they should stop making it. Just would like to see other beers get a chance through the Thumbprint series and continue Scream as a year-round beer.

That's how I interpreted it. I'm personally not that huge a fan of scream...so less of it to make room for something else would be cool. Just my own opinion though.

I have no problem with these retreads. Berliner is amazing, Enigma is great, Strawberry Rhubarb was my favorite of those four. I don't like cherry in any stouts, really, so I won't bother with this one probably. Scream is supremely underrated.

I definitely don't want to see more barleywines, imperial stouts, etc. from NG since plenty of other brewers already do that well (CW comes to mind). I want more off-the-wall stuff, especially lagers and German styles, which Dan specializes in. Smoke on the Porter was awesome. Give us a Rauchbier. Give us a retread of Alt. Give us a grodziskie. Give us more Zwickel. How about another Eisbock? How about a Helles? How about a weizenbock? Koelsch? Roggenbier? Schwarzbier? Biere de Garde? Maybe even some English styles, like Mild, Bitter, or an Old Ale (as distinct from barleywine)?

More original stuff is what I want, not the same four styles that every brewery in America wants to brew.

Exactly, retreads are fine as long as they are not the 6 or 7 beers over and over. Just look at all the tasty Thumbprints that have been brewed in the past:
    • ABT
    • Old English Porter
    • Wild Sour ale
    • Bohemian Lager
    • Imperial Saison
    • Eisbock
I would love to try the New Glarus spin on these styles, not to mention things like an esb, a mild, or a braggot. Those would be right up their alley, in my opinion.

I agree, I know they brewed a lot more variety in the past. I'm just saying that I really love the beers they're bringing back. I love that Berliner, Cranbic, and Enigma are in regular rotation. That doesn't bother me in the slightest. I do wish they'd do more experimental ones on the side of those stalwarts, though.

For anybody looking to pick some up, there is plenty of it at Discount Liquor in Milwaukee. Limit of two 4-packs per person at $9.99/pack.

This beer was amazing. Second best lager brewed by NG, only topped by the Original Two Women Lager IMO.

As long as you're going to a somewhat respectable store, it should be pretty fresh. We've been able to get into a rhythm of running out just before the next batch comes in, and is generally about a week or two old on delivery.

This. I live around NG and am an unabashed fan, so take my love of Scream with whatever salt grains you must, but I've noticed a pattern of it running out at the brewery, staying out for a little bit, then coming back fresh.

Scream is an excellent DIPA; the previous form (Thumbprint IIPA) was one of my two all-time faves when it was around.

It's really easy to figure out the bottling date. They give it Six months. I saw some on the shelf few days ago with a C code. They use A-L (Jan through Dec) so C would be to pull in March so bottled in Sep. the numbers after is the Julian code for the specific day I'm pretty sure.

But the point remains it would be a lot easier to put a "bottled on" date like so many other breweries. And like they do on their cans if I'm not mistaken.

On the other hand, really happy they made a step in the right direction with the release calendar. Excited about what's included, too.

I know that this is not a NG thing to do, but wouldn't it be amazing to have a Strawberry Rhubarb Berliner? I guess I could mix my own as they will be out back to back.
