There is NO actual "peanut butter" in Nutsmasher. Peanut butter would get oily and kill any head retention. There are some proprietary ingredients (all natural) but no actual peanut butter, just things to give the impression.

Also, from what I understand, "BA Nutsmasher" isn't flavored before it's barrel aged. Just like Nutsmasher starts as BDA Stout then gets coffee and "peanut butter" added, BA Nutsmasher starts as BA BDA then gets the goods.

I always wondered how breweries did this. Some seem to nail the natural flavor, others (DuClaw), just seem to totally trash the concept of staying away from artificiality.

That's interesting about the later addition. Do they ever sell or put BA BDA on draft? I don't see a lot of Willoughby my way that isn't PBCCP.

Actually a lot of breweries use PB2, which is a peanut butter powder. Listermann uses that on their Nutcase.

Yep, this is common. From what I understand, it's pretty much peanuts that have been ground and pressed to remove all the fat.

Yep, IIRC, it debuted at the Fat Heads Brewer's Brawl this summer and was on tap again during CBW a month or so ago. It's quite good, especially considering Willoughby has only done a handful of barrel aged beers ever.

The real hidden goodie they've made is Creme Brulee BDA. That stuff is killer!

I would imagine similar techniques would be used in Oil of Aphrodite and its walnut addition.

Warehouse Beverage in South Euclid has at least 3 cases of Backwoods Bastard @ $15.99 per four pack. I don't think they're limiting the quantities since I just got one four pack and I know I could've gotten more, but maybe that's because they like my dog and me.

Yea Im an idiot. For some reason I was thinking that Nut Smasher was PBCP. Not sure why, have had both multiple times. After that senior moment, realize that there is coffee obviously in regular Nut Smasher. I will just stop talking at this point and everyone can just carry on.

And when did they start distributing in Ohio? Is it a situation where a store is hauling some back on their own?
