Wonder if this implies they will be brewing fewer beers every week.

I've set up a makeshift camp in the reeds behind the dumpster.

Ugh, that's a shame. It was already hard-enough to get over there early enough for the Saturday releases, but this pretty much confirms that I won't be drinking any Aslin beers at home for the foreseeable future.

Are Aslin beers on tap around town? Or brewery only?

I suggested on Aslin's Facebook page that if they're going to be releasing 4 beers at once every week, that perhaps they should limit it to 1 crowler per person per beer to spread the wealth around. They said they'd see how things go today and re-evaluate from there. As someone who can't feasibly ever get to a Thursday release in the middle of the afternoon, it's something I'd certainly love to see!

I don't think I follow how that would help you, or anyone. If there's still only 250 crowlers per release, and you're not able to get there until say, saturday, no chance they are going to stop people from buying them thursday and friday, so people saturday get a chance to buy them. If the line goes through at 1pp and there's any left, they aren't going to call it a day, people are going to want to jump in line again, and they are going to take their money. Also if they're being charged $1 per Square transaction, they aren't going to want to double that expense. It's also not really ideal to pre-fill the crowlers and then save them to sell another day.

Ultimately the solution is (1) more brewing capactiy, and then (2) going back to 'live' filling growler/crowlers to order, and eventually (3) a bottling or canning set up.

This. No one likes to tear down 3 Stars as much as I do, but this beer was very well executed. Why can't some of their Illuminati's come out better if they can nail Ricky Rose this well?

    1) LOL. As if growing capacity is easy. It's not as simple as buying another 5 gallon carboy on Amazon
    2) Double LOL. Pre-canning has made things crazy smooth there. Folks who want to stay, get crowlers and hang. Guys who want to grab and go can do so in two minutes, instead of clogging up their bar and tap lines. I love the pre-filled crowlers. I bet they do too
    3) Again, have you been to their space? Where is a canning line going? I know they are looking at other spaces, but packaging doesn't always make things better. Also, the best breweries in the country have issues scaling their recipes for larger systems (see Trillium)

Bro, easy! I meant longterm (several years longterm), and generally was in response to the fella hoping they won't sell through their beers and some will be left for him, since he can't make it Thursday early afternoon. And in terms of prefilling crowlers, if there wasn't a line out the door, it would make more sense to fill crowlers to order, or maybe have a few dozen prefilled to last through the day's expected sales. When there's a rabid line, obviously the pre-fills were a godsend for us, and them.

The current system is great and as smooth as can be. The beers are tasting great, the "on premise" draft list is more solid than ever. That's why I was saying they shouldn't change a thing, except to grow, in due time. They've obviously planned, tweaked, and used feedback to get where they are, both in terms of beer and service.

Went to Aslin today for the first time in months. Orange Starfish wasn't as good as I remembered. But they serve their beer way too cold IMO. And I ain't letting it sit for 30 minutes, I'm drinking that shit.

Large format bottles soon I hear? Hoping that means beer will be easier to get than standing in line on release day. But who knows.

I was there today as well (the dork in the fluorescent-green biking shirt). Dug the Laser Raptor, skipped the Orange Starfish. I've had a couple of times recently that I've been a little disappointed with their beers that I loved in previous batches. The ones I didn't like as much were much clearer than before, and it really seems to take something from the flavor. But gotta say the recent Double Dry Hopped Dunley Place was one of my favorites ever (not just from Aslin, like, EVAH), so don't despair. I put it down to growing pains.
