Picked up a 4-pack in NJ for $12.50. Very heavy on the coffee and not much else. Was hoping for more heat from the chiles, which I did not get at all, but the beer's description does say it's subtle so I won't knock it for that. I'm going to hold onto the other 3 bottles and open one every few months to see if the coffee dies down a bit and the "mole" flavors come out more.

I picked up a 4-pack last night for $10.99 and agree with previous comments - heavy on the coffee, some chocolate, very little heat (either from the mole or from the alcohol). Solid beer but unspectacular. Hopefully it develops more depth of flavor with a little age.

Picked one up a few days ago and just cracked it, it's good, but the fact that this isn't barrel aged is incredibly deceiving, really disappointed in that. The base of Sunday Morning, which makes it Sunday Morning, is the fact that it is barrel aged. They even go as far as making this the same abv as Sunday Morning. Don't tout this as Sunday Morning with a twist if your taking away the key component that makes the base what it is, kind of ridiculous.

Was hoping for a more pronounced cinnamon flavor in this. It really is SMS without the barrel. By no means a bad beer, but I'll drink Xocoveza any day of the week over this.

SMS definitely seemed not quite as good to me in 2016 as it was in 2015. I guess I'll give their troll mole stout a try and report back. 21st Anniversary was just ok IMO. Not worth revisiting with so many other big beers out there that are better.

Why do they still make Blithering Idiot? It's horrible and I see it everywhere on shelves. Should just stick with Insanity as their BW and do adjustments/variants off that recipe perhaps.

Different strokes & all that. I love Blithering Idiot & am bummed I can't get it in MN any more (though I do jump the river to WI for my Weyerbacher fix). I just had the 21st Anniversary last night & thought it was excellent.

I'm looking forward to the mole stout. Far too many brewers load their beers up with an insane, mouth-destroying amount of heat (I'm looking at you, Stone), so I'm happy this one might prove to be more subtle.

I had my first bottle last night and this was my experience as well. Tasted just like BOMB! and is much cheaper. Will do a side by side soon to see just how close they are.

Weyerbacher, I believe would do great here in CO.

    Cheers!

For my palate, BOMB! had much more pepper heat and flavor. Both good beers, but different.

While I don't think it's as good as Bomb, it is very close, and the price point pushes me in favor of SMS. I'd rather buy a 4 pack of this for $11 than a single bottle of Bomb for $9.

I find all of these comparisons to BOMB to be a little funny. I'm able to detect so little of the various adjuncts in Sunday Mole that I doubt I would pick them out blindly. But then again I was sorta underwhelmed by BOMB in that department too, especially the lack of heat.
