A question we keep getting is, "when do we need to get there for the Swish release?"

We are expecting 345-355 cases (being packaged as this is typed) using a very conservative figure of 330 cases, and again using the conservative assumption of everyone buying the max (they won't), we will serve at least 660 people, 220 at the back station and 440 through the front. These numbers had been reached at the last release when we opened at 12. This Saturday we open at 10am with all 6 stations selling CANS ONLY. we think this will reduce line time significantly, but the numbers still dictate that getting here prior to opening is the only way to guarantee cans. Good problem to have.

 

Haven't gotten my hands on Bissell cans before. Going to be coming up to Portland on Black Friday for the weekend. Looks like Reciprocal is being released Black Friday, 11/25. If they open at noon, just how early would you suggest I get there to guarantee myself cans? 11 AM? 10 AM? Thanks in advance.

^that was in reference to the Swish release this weekend. I'm also curious what people think about 11/25 (day after thanksgiving) when they're releasing Reciprocal since I'm also planning to go. May bring my father-in-law, but really depends on how early we need to arrive since he's not big on crowds or waiting in lines.

 

Recip usually lasts the day if you get there by 1 you'll be more then fine

 

How is it looking?

 

It sold out a while ago, according to FB.

 

Line was 300 deep at like 830am. Lot of people went straight from Dinner release to Bissell.

 

I got there at like 9:20 and around 9:40 someone came around counting and they let us know we were probably 100 people behind the last person to be guaranteed beer so we headed out. Certainly possible with less than full allotments we might have got some, but didn't want to risk it. I'd guess the last person getting beer got there some time shortly after 9

 

Even Foundation is a mob scene today. No thanks! Drive past both. Oh well.

 

Utterly shocked at how bad my first four cans of Swish were. Second time I've been lucky enough to get some (the first was at a bottle share and beyond amazing) and this one just doesn't look, feel, or taste right. It feels rushed, it's super light yellow (almost white & milky looking), and it's not really drinkable. I'm going to sit on the others for 10 days or so and hopefully the beer develops in the can because what I had already is a serious disappointment. I'll never be one to bail after a bad batch but it's certainly not a pleasant experience.

 

Strange, all recent reviews on untappd seem to be normal

 

Tell me about it. That's the first place I looked after we noticed it was off. I've shared the cans with buddies and everyone felt the same as I did that the beer wasn't ready. Will report back when I crack the next 4 pack in a week or so.

 

I would take all Untappd reviews for LinePA's with a salt lick sized grain of salt. I know taste is subjective, but the fact that people were going crazy for Never & Again the day of release should be telling enough. Add on Trailblazer, which was like 5 stars before it even came out.

2+ hour wait for NE IPA's = 5 Stars for many people there.

I've found Beer Advocate to typically be a more reliable source...we seem to be a more jaded and critical bunch here.

I'll reserve my comments about Bissell's consistency in the past, but I've gone 3 times since the new brewery opened and it's been aces.

 

Have couple Swish on their way to me, shipper texted a pic of one he was drinking and said it was a good batch. First time trying it, so looking forward to them arriving.

 

I would agree with the grain of salt comment, but N&A had just as many bad review as good it seemed on that first day. I usually trend towards wanting to dislike something thats super hyped, I feel like this balances the hype meter.

 

I've gotta say that I have been able to trade for every IPA out there it feels like except reciprocal and it's really starting to become a personal challenge for me. It's not overly rare or highly rated so I just can't understand it

 

They don't make it all that often so it's a bit harder to get. But it's my favorite they make.

 

I had a pour at the brewery on Sunday and it tasted exactly the same and just as good as it has in the past.
