Isn't DDC distributed everywhere in Chicago?

 

The side streets are easy for parking there. Never a problem. DDC does go out into Chicago but in the western burbs it's with draft accounts as opposed to bottles.

 

I think so. I've purchased it at Binny's and at smaller mom 'n pop stores in the burbs.

 

Parked in the Jewel lot across the street at 12:15. I was the only one in the store.

The taproom was completely full though. Had to wait to get a seat.

 

Do that at your own risk. Chicago towing companies will get you so I don't recommend it.

 

I run into Jewel and buy something, then leave the receipt on my dash. That has always worked until it doesn't.

 

Went at 4:00, parked nearby. Got 3 Double Daisy's and a Stick Fat

 

There's no problem parking in that Jewel lot. I do it every time going to the HA bottle shop. Now, if you're waiting in a huge line or going into the tap room, that's a different story. I do the same thing with the CVS parking lot by Bottles & Cans. Maybe I'm just a risk taker.

 

It took a long time to get from Joliet to Half Acre but I got there at 8. No line and grabbed 6 DDC bottles. Bottles in the cooler and a dozen or so cases on the floor. Not sure about more in back. I had it on draft and it was maybe more bitter than I recall. Will have to compare it to the bottle when I open it. I had Juiceman on tap which didn't really live up to the juicy IPA style. I had the mussels and Oak Lagertown. Now that Octoberfest was really good on draft with the oak/vanilla barrel being a nice complement to an Octoberfest. Grab a draft if you're there this weekend

 

Daisy Cutter is still pretty damn good. Hadn't had in maybe a year or so.

With all that's going on in beer, it's easy to forget how good a beer like Daisy Cutter is.

 

Had a chance to try both Orin and Benthic last night, and I'm happy to report that Half Acre has indeed brought their A game to their BA stuff, which makes me very happy.

They will probably still have some of their stuff on tap today and over the weekend (depending on how heavily people drink). Between $6 and $6.50 for a 6 oz. pour. If you're in the area, I'd recommend swinging by.

Yeah, I live nearby, so I decided to swing by last night, and see if it was crowded. It wasn't particularly (because it's a Thursday, and because Northdown had the Abraxas thing going on, I assume?).

Either way, highly recommend Benthic (lots of coconut, little coffee, which is exactly how I like it), and I recommend Orin (better than I'd have thought, given it isn't a stout).

 

Yea I loved Orin. Went to half acre for the release of that one. Really suprised me.

 

Can anyone else find Sean's post telling us about this event before it happened? I can't.

 

I also went to Village Tap last night, specifically to drink Benthic. I first had it at their Big North party and liked it so much that I now drop everything and show up whenever I see it being tapped. Looking forward to the bottle release!

 

In all fairness, I thought someone else posted it on BA, but it looks like it was on Facebook. I wasn't even planning on going over, so I definitely wasn't trying to hide it!

Either way, my bad, guys, but I don't think you'll have trouble having a drink there; they specifically said the beers would continue to be on tap for as long as they had them.
