The Half-Acre thread (2018)

I think the big draw for a lot of people were the vintage BCBS bottles available for on-site. I got there when a lot of folks were finishing those up (but with FOBAB this weekend I just can't spend the money those went for...)

 

Yeah, I considered asking if they still had a bottle of Prop '13, but 1) the last one I had (a year or two ago) was disappointing and 2) $45 was a little steep for a 22oz. bottle I'd have to drink myself (I went alone, in true beer nerd fashion).

 

Prop 13 has definitely faded from it's glory days. $45 for one is a steal though, relatively speaking.

 

Agreed, and agreed. It's my all-time favorite beer, so with all that in mind, it was very difficult to pass. I came for Orin/Benthic, though, so I needed to concentrate on my mission.

 

Interesting. The link didn't say any thing about Benthic being there. Maybe I did see that and just wasn't thrilled by the list.

 

It was a bit hidden -- they put the list up on Facebook and then later announced through a comment that Benthic had been added, but didn't update the list itself.

 

I went mostly to try Orin, and was excited to see Benthic there. I also didn't see it on the list (and didn't check back on FB to see that it'd be there).

 

At Big North they had 3 different Benthic's, coconut was the best. Which one was on tap?

 

I belive coconut coffee is the beer moving forward. Thats what is sounds like at least considering its being released in bottles soon

 

Good move! The regular Benthic was not that impressive.

The Benthic they had at Fobab was awesome. I'm impressed. It held its own and was light years better than last year's HA attempt, BA Power Steering....

 

Benthic was a FOBAB highlight. Do we know if it'll be distributed or only released at HA?

 

I was going under the assumption it was HA only...I think that's how Orin was, unless someone saw it hit distribution (I wasn't really searching out for it, though).

 

This was my guess, too. Their BA program is still in its infancy (not taste-wise!), so they may not have enough to go around just yet.

Yep, even at $24.99 a pop I agree.

 

Great, now I'm going to have to dig out the lawn chair and sleeping bag.

 

Ahhh, now it's feeling like Stout Season (TM)!
