Reviews from others sound mixed, but personally, I was disappointed with the Maple Scotch Ale. I was really looking forward to it, but it is awfully muted. I find the base scotch ale to be similar to a brown ale. Not nearly as rich in flavor as other scotch ales...and if I wasn't told that maple was an ingredient, I would never guess it was there.

Unbelievable the price difference between states; it was $19.99 here in PA. 6 pack of Celebration is $10.99

Wow that is crazy. I think I may have got it on sale at 13.99 from 15.99, which it seems to be on sale often at the local grocery.

Coffee Stout was excellent. Maple Scotch Ale was kind of a disappointment.

I usually go down to DE to grab a bunch of beer. SN packs are $14.99-$15.99 most times. I think Celebration was $13.99 last year. Not worth a trip for one but good to stock up with a few friends.

My beer distributor told me he pays more than what I pay in DE. True , I dont know but SN has been rising in $ for years. I remember it was under $30 a case and now is closing in on $40

    Enjoy

Yep, those good old terrible high beer prices here in PA, I hate seeing what other people pay in comparison to us. :grimacing:

Agreed. I had wondered whether the reason I liked it is that it wasn't especially to style. I love a good brown ale but Scotch's are usually a bridge too far for me.

Cascade is good but not Great. (not compared to their Celebration!)

I really liked the Maple Scotch Ale. The Coffee Stout is the best of the pack and SNPA is always damn good.

Looked at it yesterday but decided to hold off. When my trees still have half their leaves and I'm sitting on the deck and cooking dinner on the grill in Pittsburgh it's just too early for winter beer. Looking forward to picking up a few once it's actually cold out.

I know some amount of diacetyl is acceptable in scotch ales, but the bottle I had last night was really heavy on the buttered popcorn aroma. Any similar experiences?

Do you happen to know if the snow pack will be making its way to Canada?

I found a pack in upstate NY this week. I like the group a lot and look forward to finding it near me on Long Island. The Maple Scotch Ale is a touch buttery, but very good.

Oy! Two posts make me a little worried - I was gonna buy the box because of the Scotch ale. :slight_frown:

SN can do this right after they offer Celebration in cans year round.

had 2 so far and they weren't overtly buttery at all - wasn't really looking for it though. i was also most excited about the scotch ale but was underwhelmed - it's pretty subdued all around and not particularly interesting or complex. the coffee stout is definitely my favorite of the pack, followed by the cascade single hop.

Haven't seen this anywhere around me. Celebration, however, finally hit my area this week with a bottled on date of 9/29. Nothing like a fresh hop IPA finally hitting your area and it's 6 weeks old when it hits shelves.
