So I have some hops laying around and I want to brew a orange flavored IPA. I've had orange Joop, and Jackie O's citramosa and I need more orange in my life. So here is my malt bill (its crushed and mixed) but I was wondering about hopping rates...

    Gallons:6
    Efficiency :75%ish
    O.G. (predicted) 1.065
    Malt:
    8lbs golden promise
    3.5lbs white wheat
    0.5lbs carapils
    1.5 flaked oats
    1lbs corn sugar

    Yeast: Omega yeast DIPA

Hops: I dont care how much I use! (This is where I need your help!)
    I have...
    8oz cenntinial
    8oz galaxy
    8oz simcoe
1 oz columbus (going to bitter with this is think)
    1 oz citra

I was also going to zest 7-10 cara oranges to get it very orange flavored

Bitter with centennial to hit a bu:gu ratio you feel is appropriate for the style. Dump in 4oz of galaxy 2oz centennial for a hop stand. At day three in the fermenter add 2oz of galaxy and 1oz of centennial, on day seven do the same additions and bottle at day 14. If you like more umph to your ipa add an oz of centennial at 15 and adjust bittering hops as needed.

How many oranges should I zest? Should I juice the oranges too? What temp do you guys usually hopstand for and for how long?

You think the simcoe will dank things up a bit?

Do you like dank with your oranges?
I have used clementines, and will say using the juice lent a acidic tartness to my beer that was undesireable. I would stick with fresh zest. Maybe four or five oranges worth to start. I will be honest, I don't like simcoe. If you had more columbus I would use it instead of the centennial. But I love columbus. I think the galaxy will be nice with the orange zest though.

It'll depend on the size of the oranges. You can always zest over a fermenter after high krausen if you need to add more. I wouldn't juice the oranges. Just eat them after zesting.

Hop stands are 170F for 10 to 20 minutes. I clean up a little on the side. When I'm done cleaning up my hop stand is usually done too.

    Never in a bad way.

Azacca to me, has a very orange flavor note. Used it in a single hop IPA before. May try using that hop as well to get you that flavor.

Is 3oz fresh orange peel to much? Jamil said to use 1.5-2 in a Belgium wit.

Maybe the oils from the orange zest will lead to a thin head...
