The two aren't mutually exclusive

But yeah you're right. Realized having work username and BA handle being the same wasn't necessarily a good idea

I'm always seeing retro Schlitz Goblets at consignment shops for a few bucks. I'm inspired to buy one and freeze the hell out of it.

I've been in this place and they do not use goblets. They are schooners which in my opinion is even worse. So top heavy and because the glass is so thick it doesn't warm as quickly. The small pours are in snifters.

Frozen glassware is for A&W rootbeer, nothing else.

Nah, on a 95 degree day, you could do worse than an ice cold Bud in a frosted glass. Everything in its own place and time.

That could be. It doesn't ever get that hot where I live!

Lol, I can see that now, BC might be exempt from chugging cold beer in frozen glasses.

No goblets here, but no amount of beer snobbery in the world will stop me enjoying a Yuengling in a glorified ice cube from time to time.

First mistake. You are in a place with 60 taps. So. 60 taps tells me they wanna make money more than they want to give you good beer. Let them see their sales and let them know you'd have two down in the same amount of time it takes you to finish one if they had served it right, and then take your time. Get some pretzels and let the beer come to temp and drink accordingly.

I like pale ales in a frozen mug. Actually, I like a coors light pint bottle out of the freezer just before it turns to slush. I do these things and the world doesn't come to an end. If you'd rather them not put it in a frozen mug, politely tell them that. If you're not a douche about it, I can virtually guarantee they will happily accommodate you. This really isn't hard.

I had a few Suntory Premium Malts in a frosted mug the other day at dinner in a japanese steak house and this actually tasted better at the lower end of the temperature spectrum than it did as it warmed up.

The taps at most places in Tokyo even say "Extra Cold" on the front.

I think it goes without saying, domestic adjunct beers do better when they are consumed at much cooler temperatures. I dont even think this is related to craft beer at all.

Regarding the OP getting a frozen tulip, that is just strange. Tulips are thin glass and break easily, and there is no handle to keep the body heat in your hand from dropping the temperature rapidly.

If my mother-in-law drinking Miller Lite from a frosty mug keeps her from being a complete teetotaler, then I suppose it's ok and she gets a pass.

Beer and frosty glassware of any kind is the exception, not the rule.

I think frozen mugs work for certain beers at certain times at certain places.

A light AAL on a summer day on a beach? Sure!

A BB stout on a cold winter's night? NO!!!

Frozen is great for a Rootbeer on a hot day but not for beer. I think the easiest way is just ask for a non-frozen glass if you know the place uses frozen ones. Odds are the staff has no idea and are just trying to please the customer with it being cold.
