Considering they didn't sell out last night, they'll at least have it at open. Gotta imagine it will last a little bit if they're limiting people to 1 4-pack and they have 20+cases

To me, this is another argument for why everyone should be canning in 4 (or 6) packs. Instead of walking in and being limited to 1 or two bombers, even a "Limit 1" of this beer means you have 4 chances to drink it, which is pretty great.

Also, given that it seems to fall off very quickly, no sense in stocking up on it anyway.

Anyone know if Binny's Grand received Galaxy Bowl yesterday? Was thinking of popping in today to check during lunch.

The 4 pack of 16 cans is kind of the perfect amount of beer to me.

That is obviously a matter of personal opinion...although it may be one shared by many. I know you had a bad experience with it after a little bit (6 weeks or so???), but mine was still OK. Not as great as when it was released, but I didn't really expect that at that point.

Same here, my experience after the 1 month mark wasn't bad at all.

So, I had a Galaxy last night...I think I liked batch #1 a bit better. This was still well above average, but I this batch is a touch less fruity/more dry.

Full disclosure: I wasn't really in a beer drinking mood, which I think can have a big affect.

My 3rd can definitely fell off significantly. The nose was distinctly different (cans 1, 2 and 4 were all super fruity and peach/passion fruit-esque) and pretty muted, and the beer itself tasted pretty generic. Can 4 was better; the nose was pretty fantastic, and the beer tasted pretty good (not quite as strongly hoppy, but still very solid). I would say personal opinion factors into whether the beer is good fresh/not fresh, but the fall-off is pretty dramatic if/when it happens (not arguing with you, just saying).

Then you really don't want to try it that much, right?:wink::slight_smile::grinning:

Personally not a fan myself, but I'm glad other people are liking it (glad it's working out for Maplewood, too). I'm actually expecting to be let down by Juice Pants as well, because 1) it's not citra hops (which by itself isn't bad, but citra is my favorite) and 2) I can't tell if they're using Conan yeast again (which may dramatically change my favorite part of the last batch--the complete lack of bitterness).

Just tried Special Sauce #9 and I think that might be my favorite batch. And possibly my favorite Chicago NE IPA yet.

Interesting. I had SS#9 Tuesday and thought it was just OK.

Having a Galaxy Bowl right now, and like it a lot. I think it's pretty close to the last batch. I can definitely see this not being quite in the same category as the stuff like Tree House and Trillium. To me it's much juicier and doesn't have that bitter orange rind-style of taste that I disliked about so many of those others. Even though I do like it quite a bit, I just can't drink too much of this style - I'm good for about one of these (maybe two), and then I'm onto something else.
