Everyone on this site (and everywhere else)is biased, period. I personally couldn't care less what style a beer is; if it's good, it's good. In that sense, I prefer Benthic. Everyone is welcome to disagree, but Benthic is what I'm looking for in a BA beer, and Orin isn't quite.

It's kind of like asking if everyone is "biased" because one beer has citra hops and another doesn't. If you prefer citra, does it really matter?

Does anyone know if there's a more accurate date that HA is going to release that Quakerbridge barleywine?

I'm pretty sure they tweeted that it wasn't brewed this year...

Edit: Yeah, tweeted on Friday, 1:23 pm (I'm on my phone, so I'm too lazy to link it).

No need for a line with BPT and a week designated for pick-up.

First off, I wanna point out that they'll have 3 registers, so clearly our hopes on that front were valid.

Secondly, this feels like a war on our wallets. Between Benthic/Orin, BCS and Moody Friday, and Big Hugs on 12/11, I'm going to have to start selling plasma.

Love it. Basically pay an extra 50 bucks and you dont have to wait in line.

I haven't cared for Big Hugs the few times I've had it, so I won't be going for this one. I'd like to give BA Big Hugs a try, but not worth the line and/or extra cost to get the whole set allocation. Maybe I'll be able to try it on tap sometime.

That's a hefty-sized dent in the wallet for a full allotment. I think my wallet and cellar will have to cry uncle on this one.

I like BH fine, but I don't think it's worth the hype. However, I really liked Vanilla (it has this great oily, sticky mouthfeel to it), so I'm naturally pretty curious about the other 2 variants.

I'd love to skip the lines and just pay $200, but given that A) I don't really want/need 4 bottles of regular BH, and B) this is literally the last time of year I want to be dropping that much at once on beer, I think I too will either have to line up or pass altogether.

    Really like the idea, though.

I liked Big Hugs, but wouldn't necessarily wait in line for a bottle, im cool with getting it on tap. The BA Version should be pretty solid. I wonder if they accept IOUs?

I'm on the fence about the pre-order option.... but I hope it catches on with future beer releases. I have young kids and live in the suburbs, so hours of waiting in line is usually out of the picture for me. I don't even mind the price markup for the option.

I'd be all up on that pre-sale if I didn't have a family to feed.

I'm a little taken back on the pre-sale to be honest. going off the costs they listed:

    • 4 bombers of Big Hugs Imperial Stout with Coffee = $52 (4x $13)
    • 2 bombers of Big Hugs Imperial Stout with Coffee and Vanilla $28 (2x $14)
    • 2 bombers of Salted Chocolate Espresso Big Hugs Imperial Stout $28 (2x $14)
    • 2 bombers of Bourbon Barrel Aged Big Hugs Imperial Stout with Coffee $44 (2x $22)
for a grand total of: $152.

So, basically, i'm paying $48 for a Big Hugs glass & Big Hugs mug.... and to not stand in a line.

While I wouldn't knock anyone who would do this, I just don't think it's worth the extra $$

I actually don't think that's bad at all...if you like all of those beers (or have a good feeling you will, since the last two are new). I'm guessing you'd be in line for awhile (at least an hour, if not more), so you're talking about $35 or less for an hour or more of your time (in the cold), depending on how much you value the glass & mug.
