You know, we had another bottle last night tailgating with my fellow UCLA boys before the cross town rivalry . Most have had Citra, many remember the 2011 version. To a man the consensus was that this incarnation tastes like a Green Flash IPA, I agree, its so damn bitter, none of that explosive tropical citrus stone fruit goodness to be found on the nose and on the pallet.

    Cheers,

Too bitter. It's that simple. They need to tweak the recipe so that the Citra rather than the bitterness stands out.

I thought this bottling was a lot better than the last. I still give it a 9.5/10 for the style.

One thing I was wondering though, were anybody elses bottles underfilled? I had a few that were barely filled past the shoulder of the bottle, just into the neck.

My RB growler fill was low. Right at the 64oz mark. Most places will fill to the top. I opened it this past weekend and it was still good. I noticed one of my JO bottles a little under filled. Bottling machine issue? I know the small lady filling my growler was having a hard time filling all growlers as she had to reach the top row of taps. The way the 2 rows of taps (on top of each other) were I thought it was odd. It wasn't that busy when I was there Sunday am getting my bottles and growlers. Maybe some re-training as beertenders? I don't think they are able to make the 2 rows of taps into 1.

My party noticed the shorter woman having a tougher time filling from the top row as well. She did a good job on pints as far as we could tell.

Pints were spot on. But I could tell she was not having a good time filling the growlers. I felt sorry for her. Had to throw a few extra $'s to her for the effort. Looking back now on the short growlers fills maybe I gave her too much? lol.
Maybe they need to purchase a step stool.

So actually your rb growler was not low. U said to the 64oz line. Perfect fill. Anything over is extra.

Not saying it was low. Just lower than normally filled. Most places fill to the top. Cap it and use electrical tape to give it that extra seal. I know the 64oz line is where its normally filled to. But I think it stays fresher longer when filled to the top.

It said on the bpt page that stores caught selling it would get their account taken away.

Too funny. I just looked at my growler and it too was not filled to the top. Yes, there is the 64 ounce line, but like DC said, normally people fill the extra 1.78 ounces to fill to the top. Not KRBC I guess.

    Then there's this opinion...

I agree it's not as good as it used to be but this is a bit extreme.

Wow, pure ignorance. Everything about this video by this dork proves to me he was drinking strawberry nesquick by the merry-go-round a year ago. Cute bottle opener  Keep slaying whales brah.

Just a quick look at this guys IG post on beer reviews tells me he is a dank & juice bomb kind of a guy. Most of the west coast IPA's he gives a bad review. His favorite west coast IPA is SA Mosaic. His review of Monks Dank IPA cans are not much better than the regular west coast IPA's. Maybe all's he likes are east coast Dank style IPA's?

They have a major growler filling problem at KRBC.ive brought it up at least once, and for some reason they think the growler just needs to be filled to the bottom or mid neck area. Fail. Basically you need to drink a KRBC growler within a day or 2 after it's filled. They need to take how-to-fill-a-growler class from cellarmaker.

I opened my RB filled growler (to the 64oz line) this past weekend which was filled one week earlier and it was fine. Carbonation was still present and the taste was as I remembered it at the brewery. Still have Think Tank #11 to open. I filled my BW growler last week at the HB grand opening with Amalgamator and it was filled to the very top.

My buddy (read beer mule) just brought back growlers filled last week. Filled to less than ~3/4 inch from the cap. Sounds like it's highly variable between staff. These were filled in the original building. Haven't opened a Citra yet, but digging the Wet Exit.
