I dont drink as much as I buy. That said. I now just Homebrew and buy rare beers or beers I really want to try. Really! Haven't purchased commercial beer before today's Founders BS for a month. I will trade Jew Brew though. Do people trade Homebrew? I have to admit it is damn tasty as some other BA's in trades with me could tell you.

This is just a guess, but I generally drink at least one beer a night (sometimes two or three) and the average beer I drink probably costs between $5 and $10. So that would easily put me over $3k.

I really don't want to think about this any more.

I once did the math to see how much my "cellar" was worth. ONCE!

I've never thought about it in such a large scale, and frankly don't want to try to tabulate it in my head. But, it'd be safe to say that I could probably put a large chunk towards a downpayment for another piece of property.

    Too much.
I'm scared to do the math.

I don't have an abacus large enough or nearly enough energy to fight off the depression that may ensue, so I don't I'm gonna answer this one.

    I need a beer...

    Off to the bottle shop!

I'd think a large Abacus—I mean §ucaba—would be part of your problem. Just a regular bottle is $15.

Maybe a follow up question should be:
How much do you spend on beer? and how much of that annual spend is consumed (in %)?

Curious about how big these cellars are getting.

I'm not exactly sure, but know it's a lot and it's money well spent!

I am on a self imposed monthly budget, read short on cash, that I need to stay within.

This kind of question remind of that guy... You know, the guy that sucks the fun out of the room with a sobering story about getting a liver transplant or a recent death. Hey man, there is a time and a place for deep conversation, but not when I barely know you and I am trying to enjoy being alive! Stop hashing my mellow with trivial tabulations that lead to depressing self-reflections :stuck_out_tongue:

I know I'm not the only one with this "problem" as I have seen pictures of lots of your cellars, and mine is tiny in comparison. I included all beer purchases whether from bars, beer festivals, bottle shops or the like. I dhould mentiom i have a wife, child and home and car payments. I work my ass off for too little momey but choose to enjoy what I can. I used to spend this money on music equipment but my studio is set for a while. Life is short, drink good beer (or hoard it).

5000??? thats $13 a DAY just on beer. Are you drinking a bottle Sam Adams Utopias everyday? Or just guzzling 12pack after 12pack. thats crazy.

All things are relative. If you are making 250K a year.....5K is just 2%. I wonder how many of those responding truthfully to this poll came up with numbers in excess of 2% of their income? And.....$13 a day could be one (or 2) fancy bombers a day. No need to equate $13 to a twelve pack.

Probably over $12k in the last twelve months. Most went to my cellar. I'm getting better though and this month was my lowest in a while. ‘Only' $500. I know it's bad and it is more than 10% of my salary, but I told myself it was an investment. Not a lot of other expenses over my head so the money would have gone to some other hobby. Bruery RS is about $2,500 a year if you max it out. Adds up quick.
