I had a bottle yesterday and it was awesome. Far and away the best beer I've had from Singlecut thus far.

Can't fucking wait to crack that shit tonight after work. The only other Singlecut beer I've had was their session IPA, and I hate session IPAs. But it was awesome.

Price is a little high, but if it means I don't have to drive out to Aslin to get a world class NE IPA, then I'm fucking game. And I hear they might be canning soon.

I'm not usually one for hyperbole, but this very well may be the best DIPA that's ever seen distribution in Washington, DC.

Heading down for thanksgiving. Last year I remember BBA GBS being around (or maybe it was Christmas time..). Any word on what Hardywood distros up to the DC Area bottle wise?

And if anyone's still looking, they still have 5 of them at the coffee bar shelf, 1 per, $28.59 after tax.

Abraxas is great and i've picked up bottles the past few years, but for $30 i don't know if it's THAT much better than Xocoveza.

I've never been as big into stouts as hoppy beers and saisons, so it was the easiest thing for me to stop chasing, but I also think the gap in quality between the best shelf stouts and the really rare stuff is narrower than IPAs.

I agree with what you said, except Stout's are a strong #2 for me behind IPAs. Abraxas and others are great, but my problem is the price and the size. I have too many large format bottles as it is. I just can't drink them very often. Not a beer I grab when getting home from work. So when beers Xocoveza come out, they are a much better value and you can drink them whenever because they are only 12oz without thinking you need some special event to open them.

I think my ideal format for an imperial stout would be a 4pk of 7oz pony bottles. I'm sure the price per oz would be terrible, but my days of soloing bombers of stouts are over. My metabolism just isn't what it used to be...

Apparently Circle in DC won't get goose island until Wednesday, just called to check. CW it is I guess.

Agreed, there is no reason any beer over 10% should come in anything larger than 12oz.

Just finished a bottle of this and I am gently sobbing. This is a shelf beer. What an age we live in.

I'm from NYC. Surprised to see it down here. Singlecut makes really great IPAs and SSMS sells out in the city as quickly as Grimm cans sometimes.

IMO Abraxas is worlds ahead of Xocoveza. While I was impressed with this year's Xoco (especially considering I don't like super sweet milk stouts/adjunct stouts), Abraxas is one of the better non-BA stouts out there.

Xoco just doesn't have the body that Abraxas does. Xoco is a little thin, Abraxas also has a lot more cinnamon and a touch of heat.

Agree w/ this, but I actually prefer Xocoveza because it's not a cinnamon bomb like Abraxas (not a huge fan of cinnamon).

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
