I know it's cool to be too cool for BCBS. I also fully realize that Colorado has a crap ton of barrel-aged stout offerings. All that being said, I'm surprised I haven't seen anything about the annual BCBS black Friday release. From what I've read, the stock has been majorly cut down this year (mainly to ensure no infections.....quality over quantity).

Is anyone planning to go out Friday to secure some bottles? I am.

It's one of those situations where people think if they stay quiet they'll be the only one :stuck_out_tongue:.

It's being pasteurized, so there shouldn't be any issues with infections.

Lukas has on 32 or 36 bottles per their blog. I've never stood in line to buy so I can't say if that's significantly below previous years but that seems like a very small amount....

Yes, I did read that. It's interesting how a brewery doesn't just choose to pasteurize, but they have to choose "how" to pasteurize....."intensely hot or just hot enough to think we've killed all the bacteria, but not affected the flavor"

Bud rep said they had some infections this year and that only half of his accounts (that are eligible) will receive their orders, or all of those accounts will receive 1/2 their order. Is this gospel? No, just what he told me.

It sure is. I believe it's actual reduced production volume (likely due to the pasteurization process they added after Lacto got in the 2015).

As far as the southeast: I've contacted beer shops in Charlotte, Nashville, & Knoxville, and they're all reporting extremely low BCBS allocations this year- the charlotte market is getting 1/3 of what it got last year. None are reporting any variants available either: looks like only the BCBS is getting shipped.

All the shops are saying 1-bottle-per-person on friday... it better be worth it.

I thought last year's wasn't good before it got infected and I also didn't care much for 2014 either(still don't). Combine that with my distaste of waiting in line to buy beer, my distaste of being around most BAs, and the availability of a plethora of BA stouts I like better just sitting on shelves and well......why am I posting in this thread?

ETA- I think they reduced the batch size this year to give it that rare feel to get the neckbeards hard again. If they are pasteurizing it why would they have to reduce the batch size? It isnt like some barrels showed infection so they dumped em.

Same here. I won't even drink it if offered a free sample. :sunglasses:

I like the idea of stopping by Station 26 and/or Odd13 for their Black Friday releases... That being said, I'm just as unlikely to stand in line for either of those prior to their 1 PM starts as I would to wake up early, hungover AF, and stand in the cold waiting for BCBS.

I was actually going to start a thread about this last weekend but I was too lazy and unfortunately I have to work a handful of hours Friday morning so I'm probably gonna miss out on most/all the BCBS releases. I saw my stores allocation on Saturday and it was definitely not even close to what it was last year. Looks like a decent amount of stores got a small amount of Rare to sell as well. I'll just be hitting up some BCBS tappings around town and debating on going to either Odd 13 or Station 26 Friday.

To correct/add to the Argonaut description in the link, they also have a case of Regal Rye. The allotment is 2 of any bottles/person but the only one you can double up on is BCBS.

Also, it looks like Chris and FRTH are done with GI/BCBS all together. Tapping their very last keg of '15 BCBS on Saturday.

After having cherry soy sauce last year GI can kiss my ass. I spent all my cash on tweak, baptista, double barrel baptist, kds, spice wars, coffee kds, BA 10.50 and am holding out for rum barrel fidy next month. Y'all have fun with them lines.

I have a couple saved for me at one of my spots: $15 each, for regular BCBS. So someone along the way, distributor, shop, whoever, has definitely grasped the opportunity to do some gouging.

I don't think there's anything I'd line up for anymore, but stores that are smart and not mega-marts will probably just sell to regulars

Not asking for locations, but anyone successful in grabbing bottles? I'm skipping this year, but enjoy hearing success stories (unless you filled the back of your minivan. Then it's just disgusting :stuck_out_tongue: )

I stumbled across some 2015 Regal Rye. More excited about that than any of the 2016 releases.
