What's with the sudden silence around here...?

I'd be interested just for the sake of seeing what you picked out for ingredients -- gives me a pretty good idea of the flavor.

Whatever you do don't tell people you asked about Münchner Biere in Berlin!:grinning:

You actually almost had me there. Well placed emoticon!

Also, have you not done Düsseldorf yet??? For some reason I thought you had. I don't know how you feel about Alts, but if they were more available here in HD I think they'd be in my house 24/7 (Diebels not included). Uerige's pub was great, and Im Füchschen's as well. I didn't make it over to the Schumacher place but I was able to purchase a bottle to take home. I'm worried that I will be spoiled for if/when I go back to the States.

Let's see...Christmas time...Doesn't one of the pubs have their special beers in the pub only on Christmas (or Christmas Eve)? Yup, checking the Wikipedia Entry on Altbier: "Füchschen's seasonal is its Weihnachtsbier (Christmas beer), available in bottles starting mid-November, and served in the brewpub on Christmas Eve."

    Enjoy it!

That sounds both intriguing and perverted in that evil way where a little voice in the back of your head keeps nagging "Dude, you should definetly try that" :grinning:
So, yeah, I'm curious and would like to try this.

Man -- that sounds so quaint and inviting to be enjoying a rare tradition with friends at a special time (yeah, probably sacrilegious, but so am I ).

I will post it in a separate thread. I'm still working on the "descriptions" of the ingredients for those not into homebrewing and thus not familiar with them. I figured, if it's not in the homebrew forum, it could be more a brewing ingredients for dummies primer.

Not sure you have to worry -- I think we're all familiar with the ingredients of beer -- unless there is something oddly named that doesn't translate...

Even though I don't brew anymore due to area constraints and time, I brewed from about 1990 to 2001 and "tutored" a good friend who has been continuously brewing since then.

No... The quality of the bier not being top shelf, the Gemuetlichkeit is A-1....
