2016 BCBS Chicago Release (Black Friday & Beyond)

Store in suburbs, not going to publicize a place selling early. Come on, man.

 

It seemed odd. I was at a table in the back having dinner, and the server was busily dishing out the other three, but telling everyone the coffee was gone almost right away. The variants were spread among the three bars (at least according to the menu) so maybe there was some confusion.

 

The second use barrels make a noticeable difference - whether good or bad is going to be a personal opinion. I had it side by side with 2014 BW and I never realized how much stout notes are added from the third use barrels. The 2016 is noticeably less complex and thinner. But it definitely tastes more like a BA BW rather than a stout-infused BW. I liked that, but some are likely to be disappointed.

 

Funny story. My family needs last minute things from the store. They ask, "Who wants to make a Jewel run?" I promptly say, "I'll go!" Perfect opportunity to hit the liquor section employees up for info. This is in the burbs mind you. Dude tells me they have 5 cases of regular and no variants. Can start selling at 8am. I ask him what it's been like in the past and he says with a deer in headlights kinda look, "I have no idea. This is the first time I've ever even heard of this beer." I smell Lord of the Flies there, and unfortunately left my conch shell at home...

 

Trust me, that won't be the only interesting Jewel story we will read about in the next 24-48 hours or so.

 

Last year I went to Mariano's to pick up some BC regular, and was told to talk to customer service about it. I encountered a younger girl whom I asked if they had gotten any in. She asked 'what's the beer called?' to which I responded Bourbon County Brand Stout... It's from Goose Island'. So she got on the phone and called back to stock room, and asked whoever was on the other line, 'hey,
did we get any beer called Goose Island?'

 

Answering my own question here. Timothy O'Tooles had BCBS 2012-2015 and 2016 prop as of 1am last night. Rough morning today.

 

Here now. Still flowing. 13 Barleywine on too. Oh, and it's 15 prop.

 

I called my local store last night to see what time they might have BCS Friday. She yelled to another employee "Do you know anything about a beer called Goose Holland"? Guess I'll have to take my chances tomorrow.

 

Anybody that is already in line needs a serious life check. Somebody please do a drive-by and take photos so we all know who the sociopaths are, for future reference of who to stay away from.

 

Young people not listening? Nah...never happened.

 

Gotta hand it to folks from MN as they seem to have a knack for finding places in Chicago selling BCBS early. (taken from the joke never gets old bin)

 

This same joke is made on almost every BCS post GI (or anyone related) makes. It's so fucking tiresome. Everyone who made this "is it gonna be infected this year" joke on social media should have to wait a week after Black Friday to purchase this beer that has disappointed them so much.

 

Totally agree...very tiresome. And hypocritical too...you know all these people talking shit will gladly chase and drink BCS this year.

 

The fact that he is asking a Binny's employee to answer for Goose Island's infection issue only adds to the comedy!!!
