2016 BCBS Chicago Release (Black Friday & Beyond)

Local shop here in MI got 3 cases of coffee. I thought was pretty random considering the reports of limited allotments around Chicago.

 

Maybe so. Just seems kind of crazy to me.

 

Walgreens in Bucktown had MUCH less than last year. Only enough variants (limit 2) for the first 50ish in line. Couldn't even go though the line a second time to get regular.

 

Pretty standard.

Where is a good place to grab brunch around GI today?

 

Just out of curiosity, what were they charging for vintage bottles at LP?

 

Some brief recap items from my Binny's LP experience:

- Got there at 830pm last night, translated into ticket #111.
- Great peeps in line, no issues with mules, etc. Cops were patrolling frequently and did stop to have a conversation with a group just ahead of me which didnt appear to be very discreet with their bottle sharing, I guess? Anyway, they wrapped it up and disposed of their bottles immediately after the patrol left.
- Doors opened promptly at 9am and I was out by 920-925am. I saw plenty of VR and Prop available when I passed through. I opted for VR @$39.99. Also picked up a Rare at $69.99
- A 2016 snifter, bag of Intelligentsia coffee and a poster were in my swag bag (given to the first 200 tickets, I guess).
- Great experience, well managed event, I will go to LP next year for sure.

 

Girlfriend was able to get two regulars, a coffee and barleywine at our regular spot down south, though once again, they didn't get any Prop at all. I mean, shit, even if it's just one case, why not gives more stores something?

 

Warrens in Wheaton has all of them on tap. 9 oz for $11

You probably weren't at Side Note #5 release, but a bunch of people were calling for LP Binny's style of release. So glad Side Note did it the way they did.

 

Butcher & the Burger is not even a 10 min walk from there.

 

1 thing i found great this year was that PVW was released in secrete, and the amount of people who flew past them looking for BC. Take your time pays off sometimes.

 

Shit. I did some more beer shopping while at grand Binnys. Wish I would have checked out the bourbon aisle.

I'm shaking my head looking at all the people in trade forums with ISO 3-6 BCBCS X16 for ... whatever (Black Tuesday, regular Abraxas, etc.) I'm not shaking my head because of 'value' or anything, but how much BCBCS do people think is actually out there? Allotment was 1pp! I know mules and all but still.

 

I live here. Everything sold out as stores opened up. Most lasted 15 mins. Only limited coffee (Jewel had 1 case...HyVee maybe 2) plus decent BW and Stout.
