Anybody have some BCS near the Joliet area?

Yeah, it seems like it'll be tougher for some of these high quality independent craft beer stores when they have to face up allocations-wise against the big boys. I really want to go to BT tomorrow or Sunday just because I like the store so much, but I have to determine what my cost / benefit threshold is for what time I'd have to get there to get something I really want.

Hit up Jewel in Lakeview at 6am and got the 3reg plus 1 of everything else allotment. Cruised over to Binny's LP and got the allotment there. Then hit up a Jewel on the way back home and got 2 more regular. Stopped at a tiny liquor store by me hoping to score one more coffee but they only had reg and barleywine. I passed. All in a much better experience than the last 2 years where I got to LP Binny's at 2am and that ended up being all I would get.

On the other hand, I spoke to an owner of a really great craft beer shop in the city (my post history shows where my loyalty lies in reccimendations), and he was saying that in his opinion, Beer Temple should be grateful he gets anything, as this owner goes out of his way to also sell cheap beer to non-craft drinkers.

Generally speaking, I think the suburban Binnys experience was much better this year than last. I got to bloomingdale at 3am and was 10th in line. Was the 12th person to purchase because of a couple line jumpers...didn't matter though, got the full alottment and variants seemed to be in good supply. My guess would be getting there around 6 received a full alottment minus rare.

I agree to a certain extent, but Chris (BT) is a good dude, very fair, and also a champion of GI's "premium" beers (BCS and the Sisters), so GI could definitely do worse in who they/their distributors give beer to.

Any reports from Skokie or Glencoe? My local options I passed on to try LP...more on that experience later

Anyone else get multiple ABV's of regular? I have both 14.5% and 13.8%. All from the same store.

This is a whole other can of worms for GI. They can't find anyone who can confirm that 2017 will in fact be the 25th anniversary of Bourbon County Stout. The guy writing the book on GI has interviewed everyone involved and the evidence points to the intro in 1995...http://www.chicagotribune.com/dinin...ut-not-as-old-as-we-think-20161030-story.html

But then again, we go nuts for an $80 beer called Rare that is anything, but...

Oh I totally agree. BT is still the gold standard as far as I'm concerned.

But giving places like beer temple a bunch of the beer also doesn't help expand the brand. Everyone that shops at beer temple, knows of BCS.

Just look at all the tweets @Binnys from people what their Black Friday sale was because of the line

I got those identical ABV's, but it was from different stores. I need to take another gander, but pretty sure it was different bottling dates.

Local liquor store put some aside for me. I then went to a grocery store about 1/4 mile away. They had the regular Stout on the counter. That is where 4 of the 8 came from. There were about 8 remaining when I left. Manitowoc.

Got in line around 6AM. After getting a ticket, which we were told guaranteed meant we got a full allotment, we left the line so the older folk in our party could warm up. After getting back in line around 10:30-11 AM Binnie's told everyone they were out. We ended up with nothing, despite waiting in line for 3 hours.

It makes no sense for them to hand out tickets and tell people they're guaranteed a full allotment when that isn't the case. Had we known we had to stay in line, which wasn't the case last year, we wouldn't have left.

IMO a poorly run event from Binnie's LP.

Wow that sucks. Did they have any explanations for the tickets then? I would be more than pissed if I waited that long and was given misinformation and came home empty handed...

what was your ticket number, just curious? I was #111 and I saw noone around me completely vacate their spot. It doesnt make sense to me, I guess....were you under the assumption you could come back at any point in time during the day and expect to still receive a full allotment? Like they were going to hold onto it for you until you got there? Not sure I understand your strategy but am sorry you got shut out.
