And there is still a ton of it here. I think Rare is gonna be a vintage release here for a good 3 years or so.

As someone likely moving back to Michigan next year, this terrifies me. Goose seems to keep pushing more and more of it into Chicagoland Binny's, Jewel, and large retailers alike. Intentionally cellaring a Reg and Rare from today so I have some backup for next year if I miss out.

Rare was on tap at fulton, $8 for a 6 oz pour. I had one and one of each variant, they were all great. Prop seemed a little hotter than prop day but still very good

Having a Reg right now as well. I think you're right, actually, cuz I cracked a 14.5%er and my first thought was "woah, boozy". Could just be because I haven't really have a BA beer since last Spring/Winter, or maybe there really is a bit of a difference between the batches.

Umm, I'm having trouble trying to understand this part of your post.

This must be the Rare that folks passed on last weekend at Prop Day. When asked, it's for sale for $80, onsite consumption only. The 5 oz./$8 pour seems like a much better deal though.

    Seen at Fulton St. today.

Currently at Tap House in Westmont and they have (or at least claim to) 2015 Bourbon County Rare for $11.00 per 10oz pour. Tastes amazing, but is this possible at that price point? Furthermore, hardly anyone here! It clearly says "Goose Island BCS 2015 Rare".

Haven't been to the new location but the old one was had a bar that anyone could just drink and hang at. I have no reason to expect the new spot is any different. I assume you own a phone so you can just call them.

If I didn't ask those questions my owner would not have believed me. Heehaw!

As a reward I enjoyed several draft pours at Chuck's in Darien at a Goose tap takeover.

Whirlyball is an underrated tap list in the city in general, and you can drink there as you please. I went there a couple months back, and they had some of the Pipeworks fish series on tap - not bad when you take the kids bowling.

I was expecting the supply to be down this year but my bottle store in Rockford only got a case of 12 coffee this year?! I was shocked!! I was grateful to get the last one but damn! What happened to the supply of coffee this year?? I'm just curious. . .

Coffee seemed like a damn near impossible feat to land. Outside of my Binny's coffee I couldn't find it anywhere. But was able to land a solid haul of regular BCS' and some extra Barleywine.

Oh, also grabbed me an Old Rip Van Winkle. But that's a discussion for another time/board.

Shared a 16 regular 14.5% tonight . Super hot cold, as it warmed got much better. Lots of vanilla near the end.

Yup. Stumbled upon it being released at a major chain grocery store that shall remain nameless as a friend was loading up on BCS.

All they said was "we got in some hard to find whiskey" (their words, not mine) and asked if I was interested. I said "sure" and next thing I knew they were bringing me a bottle of ORVW.

My biggest shock of the day bar none.

I missed the release today because I was out of town on the East Coast but I made it back late on Friday and hit up a favorite Restaurant before heading home. Right by the restaurant is a place in Westmont called Prestige Liquiors... so I decide after dinner to check them out because I called them and they said they had reg and Barley Wine still.

So I stroll on in there around 9:30 P.M.... see they have about 12 cases of reg and 5 cases of Barley wine. I ask the cashier for 1 of each and then he drops the hammer... "You need to buy something else to get a bottle" I told him he has 12 cases of regular and he didn't care. I'm flush in East Coast IPAs... I didn't need anything else but making people buy something else just to get a bottle is BS.

Should I report this business for this? I was thinking I should drop a dime on this crappy establishment.

Has anyone tried the current barleywine release? The only thing I've been able to find in the past is reg stout including this year and have never tried BW. A friend has 3 bottles that he's willing to spare at his cost ($13). Should I go for it?

I think it's the best it's ever been because it's it's own thing now. YMMV.

The Jewel by me (South Suburbs) received the 14.5% version of BCBS. So who knows how or why certain stores ended up with 13.8% or 14.5%?
