I grabbed 2 bottles. Had a couple drafts. Good beer. The event was another winner for bitter pops. They are killing it.

Started working on my 2nd 4-pack of Galaxy Bowl picked up last week at either BT or Capone's. The first two cans in this set have more alcohol burn/presence on the back end than I remembered the first release having. The first release has a softness that was close to Juicy despite the Galaxy hops so this felt like a change

Yeah they seemed to have way less glasses than advertised. Oh well.

I actually really like JP3. It's much closer to an NE style beer than 2, and has just enough bitterness to keep me interested (which I'm sure holds it back in the eyes of many here). It's not quite as full-bodied as GB, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It's like they mixed JP2 and Son of Juice together.

Grabbed some cumulus at warehouse today if anyone is looking. Canned 11/16 and drinking very nice this evening.

Anyone have the most recent Son of Juice? I was not impressed with the previous batch, found it to be light and not have much flavor. But the most recent batch was juicy and delicious. Almost didn't pick it up and I may have even liked it more than Galaxy Bowl. Plus that haze. :grinning:

    Looking forward to Juice Pants.

SoJ is probably my favorite of the local hazies. Juice Pants 3 doesn't have as much depth and the Mikerphone stuff is just to boozy. But it's more a pale vs ipa v dipa preference.

I am in St Louis and had Narrow Gauge last night. This beats SS and GB. It is just as good as Tree House or Trillium.

That's interesting, although maybe not ENTIRELY surprising given how different JP3 was from JP2 (juicy/hazy vs. clear and more traditional). Maybe they've got it figured out, now.
I'd agree on most things here. I didn't like batch 1 of SoJ at all, but I can see preferring it if SS is too boozy for you. I agree on JP3 to a certain extent, but that's kind of what I like about it; it's in between an SS and at least the first batch of SoJ.

I have tried a few more NE IPAS from Chicagoland and close by. Special Sauce batch 9 and Juice is Loose are my current leaders. I still need to try Juicy though.

Special Sauce is great, and batch 9 was particularly good, but in my opinion Juicy is by far the best Chicago NE IPA and the only thing close to Treehouse from the Chicago area.

I just had it the other day - unfortunately I was extremely underwhelmed. I drank one 16oz. glass of it and drain poured the rest

The smell was extremely fruity and juicy, and I was hoping the taste would follow that. It most definitely did not. Fruity yes, but the label claimed to have a great balance between the fruit and the hops that just wasn't there for me. Not hoppy at all, and in order for it to be "balanced", it needed more.

Really looking forward to the new Juice Pants, but if Son of Juice is anything like the most recent batch, personally I won't be buying it again

Plenty of Juice Pants as of yesterday at Bitter Pops for those still looking.

So will Hop Butcher's new NE IIPA with Azzaca, Mellotron, be better than Galaxy Bowl?

I'll let you know whenever it lands in December! :stuck_out_tongue:

It's Stout Season (TM) for me now, but I'll gladly break that rule for this and Enjoy By: Unfiltered (if it fucking hits distro in Chicago this time!).

Mellotron is the name, not another hop...

Correct. It's single hopped. As was Galaxy Bowl.
