I assume Coffee is gone everywhere. I got BW and Regular but missed that one.

Supposedly Regular was going to be scarce this year but I saw tons of boxes at WF CC.

It's crazy that Top Hops still had rare this morning yet coffee is impossible to find.

Don't think it's that crazy, one of those beers was being sold for $85

I'm having a really hard time deciding if I want to pull the trigger on Rare even though BCBS is close to my favorite beer of all time.. $65-85 would buy a damn good bottle of real bourbon. Is it really worth that?

Not really man, I'd invest that money into BCBS regular quite frankly. Rare was supposed to be some amazing variant. In no way is it somehow worth 40 more than a Vanilla Rye. In fact my Vanilla Rye was 27 + tax. I agree with you and would much rather get a bottle of High West Bourye for that price. Rare is not worth 50 more dollars then a Vanilla Rye, simple from my view. I bought coffee. That's it.

This is one way to approach the question; the other is - if you have the expendable income and you can afford to satisfy your curiosity, why not go for it? No one can recreate your palate or your drinking experience; taking a special evening to sip on a bottle of Rare with a loved one, a few friends, or simply by yourself could well be worth that money. I simply don't have the expendable income to drop $4/ounce on beer; I'd rather use my limited beer budget to get a slew of IPAs. But I don't see it as a question of "overall value" that can be answered for you.

Swiftway in Medford has regular and bw. They had an event Friday with rare coffee and regal but that's clearly gone. They also have 15 bcbs for growlers but at 50 a pop it's rediculous, 16 oz at time is pushing g let alone 4x. They said they were drinking it so I can't imagine it was one of the bad batches

Croxleys and jacksons had everything on tap including prop on Friday night. I wasn't there, can't comment on what is or isn't there.

Hix confirmed they will update Monday.

Not bcbs but Tap room in patch has kbs 15 on tap right now. They also had cbs14 a week ago and 16 kbs, somehow they have stuck around for a quite a while

Croxleys is keeping two on at a time and rotating, yesterday they had 2014 coffee, it was fantastic and 2016 regular was on also.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the level-headed replies. I mentally prepared myself to spend 60-80 but it turned out to be $100 in the end. I know there was some price gouging so I decided to draw the line. I'm sure I'll be happy with the other variants I was able to get.

Buddy of mine hit Carmine Street today, apparently had a really small crowd, they might still have '15 Regal if anyone is looking for a variant (also had regular and BW; raffle available for '16 coffee and Rare).

Still pretty surprised how much quieter these events have been this year. I figured everyone would shake off that whole infection business and move ahead. Still hoping to see some more tap events in December or January so I can try this year's on draft.

Oh and if you're still watching this thread, Milk and Hops- both Astor and Chelsea- are tapping 2016 BCBS this Saturday with some limited bottles and another raffle opportunity for coffee. Coffee on tap only at Astor location (see their IG feed for more details).

I think it also has a lot to do with the lack of variants. Many, myself included love BCBCS, yet coffee seems impossible to find. It was easier to find bottles of Rare than it was to find coffee...

Speaking for myself it is both the uncommon difficulty of getting coffee, and lingering bitterness from last year's issues, that have kept me from seeking or purchasing bottles. Not sure if everyone has heard yet, but FWIW, Lagunitas' High Westi-ified Coffee Stout should be in 12oz bottle six packs next month (I have a bomber from last year still; without qualification my second favorite coffee stout behind BCBCS).
