Reminds me of a year or two ago when someone posted on CCBE about overpriced variants (~$80-90) at Sara Mart, or Galleria, or D&D or whatever shitty liquor store had them. First few comments were about how they always have them sitting there b/c they are overpriced.

Then within an hour of the post they were sold out. Enough people thought that was a good deal and rushed over there to buy them. In prior years, that never happened.

Holy shit. I mean, don't get me wrong, ~$10 for 16.9 oz. of one of the best BA stouts on the market is a steal in my opinion (given most 22 oz bombers from the big boys are $20 and up, and most of them aren't BCS), but $30 is highway fucking robbery.

On the other hand, maybe Galleria is taking a page out of the Eclipse playbook? Price shit high enough that it sits on shelves, and thus everyone has a crack at it? (And yes, I know I'm reaching)

It was never busy when I was there. Doesn't surprise me at all but I am saddened that it closed.

I am kind of ok with a few shops doing that, just for the sake of out-of-towners who just want one single bottle of BCBS.

If there is a place where you can guaranteed get a bottle of BCBS for $20-30 in April or something... then great. If some guy is coming in from out of town and just wants one single bottle, and has zero cellar to trade, and doesn't know anyone who can hook him up. Then it is ok.

If you want to buy multiple bottles though, lol at that price.

Difference is there are 1,000 DL vanillas and you have to front $230 to get it...

Also, if the strategy holds of releasing bulk of previous year's BCBS releases it should go a long way towards tempering the aftermarket pricing making it less and less lucrative for those who profiteer from this. Last year people were selling Rare for $225 plus which was basically 3x msrp. This year, with availability sitting at places like Jewel for $130, and the possibility of another $80 Prop Day release in 2017, it has brought the aftermarket prices down closer to $130 for those reselling their bottles.. A small battle, but it is getting better.

This was my thought also. I really like coffee but I felt that it took away from the bourbon flavor which is why i'm a little confused over the craze of it. I think if I have a taste for it I would just mix some of coffee I got from intelligentsia. I had the coffee today and thought I was wonderful by itself.

Mariano's in Bucktown had a few cases of bcbs left as of 30 minutes ago, no limit at $9.99/bottle. They were all the 14.5% version. Guy said he didn't get any variants, but not sure of other Mariano's. I'm too lazy/tired to see if a bigger Mariano's has/got bcbcs. Happy hunting.

You can go drink a bottle of Rare at Fulton for $80, if you are still trying to get that monkey off your back.

If they still have 'em at the end of Dec I might bring my brother there and do just that! Monkeys are a bitch.

I'm super disgusted with my local Logan square spot.

    Regular $19.99
    Barleywine $29.99
    Coffee $39.99
    Prop $49.99

The prop and coffee had no price listed so I brought two of each to the register. She told me the price and about the same time puked in my mouth a little. It felt really weird to turn my back on coffee (my personal favorite variant) and two props.... but I said a solid PASS and left that shit hole.

I should have figured this place was gonna be straight gouging when a few weeks ago they had a hand full of infected 2015 regular for sale for $19.99, complete with the neck labels removed. What a bunch of pricks

Hit the Capone's release today. I was #30 in line, and got there around 3:25. Was able to get a Prop, along with a Barleywine and 2 regulars. Kind of a nice surprise that they let you take a BW as well - I wasn't really looking to get another, but still took it.

I mean I normally would too, but I prefer that sort of drinking at home!

Plus this way only costs me $40.

So I just went into a small mom and pop shop and found a decent amount of bourbon county on the shelf. Grabbed 2 regular ($12.99 each) and 1 barleywine ($14.99 each). Just got home and realized they are 2015...

What are the chances that these aren't infected?
