I learned that rum barrels generally don't add to beer, I drain poured a Mikeller Santas Little Helper in rum barrels. It tasted like fingernail polish remover.

Shocked at the number of people who drain poured four lokos. You had to have known what you were getting into.

I hope they were not the orignal four lokos, also known as Loko RARE.

Oh wow, I loved Fruet. Still trying to find more bottles (and pay the hefty $30 each).

Dark Horse Rum barrel 4 Elf was phenomenal, but it is the only one of the type I've had

I've drainpoured 2 beers: Fantome - it was newly purchased and completely flat with zero head, yuk! and Belgo Anise, awful.

I've only drainpoured two beers and they are from breweries I really like:

Lagunitas Cappucino Stout - they need to stick to hoppy beers
Short's Key Lime Pie - I respect their ingenuity but this was just a hot mess

Pumpkinhead Ale from Shipyard and Kriek Lambic from Sprecher.

I couldn't stand either. I learned that I will stick to what I know and that I should stay away from beers that are rated less than 3. Problem was I didn't look on here first.

Southern tier cuvée series 3, southern tier chocolat, southern tier crime brûlée, and brew dog smoke dog. These are the only ones I've ever poured out over several year, probably 4, and hundreds of beers... I've decided to no longer purchase southern tier.

Leinenkugel Fireside Nut Brown. The lack of proper balance made me cringe after every sip until I eventually drain poured it. I couldn't even describe the taste that came out of that bottle. Never again though.

The regular - I think it was a bad bottle. Completely flat - I looked at all the reviews talking about a big head and decided the funk I was tasting wasn't normal, it was spoiled.

Their Blackwater series are all way over the top and need aging for that reason IMO, because they are too sweet/strong when fresh. Creme Brulee with two years on it is a much better beer, so is Chokolat.

The one beer I just could not finish...tasted like a bud light with a fireball dropped in it. I love pumpkin beers and love shipyard export so i figured it have to be good. Boy was I wrong.

Heh. Regular old Black Hole was my first drainpour, and sadly not my last.

    +1.

I have friends who think Pumking is delicious, and who don't believe I have tried it when I insist that it is foul beyond words. Like you, I try it every year, just to make sure, but I have wised up -- I find a bar that has it on tap and just ask for a sample, then spend the night seeking something to get the nasty taste out of my mouth.

    Blech.

1st drainpour was a bottle of the infamous 2010 Brandy Angels Share by LA. Tasted like flat vomit.

Other major drainpour was a bad bottle of Alesmith Yulesmith. Flat and oddly tart, just couldn't do more than a sip.

Since then I've poured out a couple where I though I wanted a beer, like what I had, but couldn't finish the bottle myself. One example is brewdog tokio, which I made the mistake of drinking at the end of a one man Imperial stout flight. That beer doesn't play well with others.

Mikkeller Black. I didn't have a context for it at the time, being fairly new to craft beer. I have since had it again and all it's barrel-aged variants, and split between 4 or 5 people it is fine. Great as an end-of-tasing shot or sipper. For some kid just graduating from Hoegaarden, not so much. And my rating stands, because it definitely isn't an ideal imperial stout.
