    This is a perspective I don't think about much. For some of the rarer beers (Prop, Rare, etc.), I was okay with the idea of a little markup, but for Reg I thought it was a bit much. However, you're right, as a "treat" that you can't find anywhere else, it's not a terrible thing. I know that if I ever get desperate, it'll feel pretty damn convenient to go to the GI taproom and pay the $10-20 premium that they've currently got on Rare.

    For non-hardcore beer nerds, finding these beers is relatively difficult, no matter what anyone says. You're not just walking into a Binny's on a Saturday night and seeing BCS on the shelves (at least usually).

    * Get lucky at a smaller store
    * Trade
    * Have a "guy" at a store that you frequent

    As far as I know, allocations have already been determined and the buyers or team leaders in each WFM store should be aware of what they are receiving.

    To anybody west of the city, Wheaton Mariano's got their shipment today and still have multiple cases. No variants, $10 each, limit of 3

    La Primera on Clark St in Andersonville had 8 or 9 bottles last night. They were $17. While I was there a mom came in hauling her kid behind her and just stammered from the door, "You have Bourbon County!?" The clerk said barleywine only, she got on her phone and then a couple minutes later said, "ok fine I'll take one" and hustled out. The hunt is real in 2016...

    BCBBW is my favorite, so I am glad I bought a case of it 2013 because the change to bottle formats has made it so much more difficult to get the past couple years when I haven't been in the city on Black Friday.

    Edit: To be clear, no offense meant to beer-hunting mothers! Just thought it was a funny scene. The kid had the same look as I did when I used to get dragged around to thirty department stores by my mother.

    Took my bottle of prop out of the box today and noticed there's several cracks in it. A few on the upper 1/3 of the bottle and then one that runs top to bottom. I didn't have much intention of trading it and now certainly won't given the condition of the bottle....hopefully nobody else has a similar issue.

    Saw a place with Coffee for $46.99 and Prop for $69.99. Not in my price range, but I'm sure they will sell.

    I called a few places yesterday and found one selling the bw for 15 BUT you had to purchase either 2 bombers or sixers of "craft" to be allowed 1 bw. Unreal sometimes.

    And this is why we wait in line to buy it at other places.

    I get that if it is GI stuff since GI ties year round sales to BCBS allocation which is crummy, but other stuff? I guess it must be good for craft, right?:astonished:

    Call GI and ask if you can exchange it for one that is okay at the brewpub or taproom...or tell them you'd be happy to exchange it at the barrel warehouse if they throw in a free tour and samplings.

    As God is my witness he said over the phone any "craft" not just GI. I only know this cause I asked him 3 separate times. I couldn't believe he kept saying any "craft". I've heard of the GI trick before, never heard of buying anything.

    Oh well, I wasn't going to step foot in there anyways....

    Maybe he was saying "crap"...as long as you buy other "crap" bombers or sixers. :wink: It's kind of like that Discover commercial talking about frog or fraud protection.
