Surprised there's no thread yet for this. They announced the limit already so I thought I would start a thread for everything related to the party, release and shares.

Seems like there's a new barleywine blend this year?

All I know is on December 17th they are doing a 4 Elf South party at Cappy's in Cincinnati with 40 taps from Dark Horse.

The Facebook post says, "Here is the EXAMPLE order form" It is also missing 2015 BBPT5 from the DH 4 Elf poster for this year.

Not sure who or what to believe at this point.

See you folks there bright and early Friday morning

It's going to be my first time this year. Any thing I need to know about so I can be prepared? I've been to Dark Lord Day before so I'm just gonna deal with it the same way I dealt with dld. Do people have big open to the public bottle shares in the hotels around DH?

I'm planning for this year but missed last year with the new format change (order Friday, party Saturday). Before that it was an open bottle share within the DH compound only. There are no motels near or within walking distance of DH that I'm aware of. If I understand correctly, even though there is no need to camp out overnight, they will keep the gates open and let you do so. It's a rough party if you drink heavy beers all night (from experience).

planning on skipping out on the bottle release completely opting to avoid any and all line waiting, showing up on saturday around noon. given that scenario, how difficult would it be for me to buy 1 4pk of Plead the 5th?

No one can guarantee anything, but 2 years ago I got there at noon and bought a case of BBPt5. I think it was the same last year, but maybe someone else can comment on that.

To my knowledge, there has been left over BBPt5 on Sunday and into the following week the last 2 years. Not likely to be any variants but who knows.

They could have made one change from last year and things would have run way more smoother this year. They put the order form online but you cannot fill that one out and submit it. You have to fill out the form they hand you and that's when the combination of idiots drags the process out. They were letting maybe 15 - 20 people at a time fill out forms and when we were doing ours I could hear people debating what to ask for like they had no fucking clue what they wanted. Of course while they're dicking around everyone else has to wait.

Since the wristband is numbered you should be able to fill the form out in advance and they can write your wristband number on it. I was 404 last year and it took over 2 hours to get the form turned in. That process could have been done in 15 - 20 minutes.

You might be able to buy some but not by filling out that form. Form pickups end at 9 on Saturday. If they sell leftover beer on Sunday (or later) that will be a different process.

I'm in the same boat....just want BB Plead. Was hoping to avoid two trips and just do it on Saturday at the party. @fredmugs Your "9" is 9pm, correct? I'm also curious how many hours after you turn in the form you can pick up the beer.

My buddy got to the party around 2pm last year. Filled out an order form when he arrived, and had 2 cases of Bbpt5 by 5pm. Maybe even earlier. It was still light out. Everything else was sold out, but if you just want Plead, you should be fine showing up the day of the party, assuming they gave the same amount of beer available.

    It's different.

The bottle share part is before 6pm on Friday, and it's basically with who you're with in line (similar to entering dark lord day).

At 6pm on Friday, they start handing out ordering forms. You fill it out, and go on your way.

The party at the brewery starts on Saturday. No bottle sharing at the party. They do have kick ass drafts and free food. The food is awesome. They smoke whole animals and put it on a table. Last year, just off the top of my head, they did a goat, alligator, and a couple pigs.

Servers are also walking around with exotic h'ordeuvres, like ostrich filet and kangaroo testicles (both were delish).

You also pick up your beer on this day, with it being timed to the order you were in line.

Will this beer ever hit distribution?

Maybe a silly question but what do people do with there allotment at the party? Pick up when you leave? Not exactly wanting to drive there...I'm assuming there are cabs or uber/lyft right?

no cabs but im sure you could hail an uber. just time it so it arrives roughly when you are ready to go and just load your cases in the uber like a boss

From what I remember, they do not sell the leftover beer on Sunday.

I was unable to go the party last year, and I looked into going on Sunday to get some. My recollection is that they're pretty clear that no beer available at 4elf is for sale on Sunday, and that they usually wait until Monday at the earliest.

They've been very specific that you can't bottle share in the parking lots, but you can while in line prior to 6pm, and they're going to keep the beer garden area open for people who want (for some reason) to camp out overnight. I'm sure there will be people doing so. If you haven't been to Dark Horse or Marshall before, keep in mind that it's a small town that prides itself on an old-timey feel and Victorian houses. Speed limits are slow, there are very few hotels (none within walking distance), and options for transport are going to be limited. There's probably a local cab company or two, but you should do some research if you're thinking of using Uber. I live nearby in the significantly larger city of Jackson, and there wasn't a single Uber driver working last Saturday night. Just the way it goes.

Regarding pick up of your order, just grab it when you're ready to leave and carry it out. If you order a ton of stuff, they usually have staff available to help you, and they let people drive right up to the pickup area. I seem to recall that they announced last year they wouldn't sell leftovers for a couple days so that they could recount and figure out just what they had remaining.
