West loop was 7am. Had 1 case of prop and seemed like maybe 3 cases of coffee (at least 2 I saw). I was about 20th in line and missed prop by 5 people or so - a few got coffee over prop. Got there at 5:50, probably needed about 5:20 or 5:30 to get prop. Happy to get a coffee for sure.

It's crazy to me that (at least for the last couple years) Prop has been widely criticized, and yet it still is consistently selling quicker than Coffee, which seems to be most people's favorite (or 2nd fave behind Reg).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge coffee fan, so I'm not in that camp, but I'm always surprised that no one passes on Prop; I'd imagine it doesn't have the trade-Whale status it used to.

I hear you, but at the end of the day there is less prop out there even with coffee being short supply. Personally I really enjoyed prop the 2 times that I've had it, so while I like coffee a bit more (had it once), I'd only pick coffee over prop if I had found like 3 props and no coffees.

Edit: Also, I bet a lot are in a similar boat as me where I have a few out of town friends who are able to find a coffee but just can't get a prop in NYC or Michigan. They want to try what they haven't had, so pressure is on to get a prop for me to share when they make it into town.

Yeah, that's totally fair, I'm just saying that I'm surprised based on all the vocal opposition to Prop. Then again, most of the "Prop sucks this year OMG burn Goose Island down" people probably have more bottles of it than I do (which is one).

Whole foods Wheaton has a couple bottles of regular left. They only gave us one each. No variants.

The Wheaton drop was super disappointing. Only 3 cases and no variants. 1 per person.

Yeah, important is that both times I've had it - GI Clybourn tasting and at a restaurant - I thought it was very good. My wife liked it enough to order one after trying mine at the restaurant, and if it had been the hot smoky mess that was described from FOBAB she sure would not have done that.

Yeah, but the FOMO applies to coffee too, which is why I totally get his point.

I'm going to be honest with you... 75% of craft beer is FOMO. The less supply, the more demand.

Only good side is that I got there at 8 AM, got a bottle, and got out by 8:05 AM

Did they tap their kegs yet at WF LP or are they waiting until later in the day? And if they did, do they have any variants on tap?

I passed on Prop this morning at WF. I don't like pepper beers, I've heard too many varying opinions on this years Prop, and I love the coffee variant.

Who would take 1 coffee over 1 prop; when you can turn around and trade the 1 prop for 2 coffees on any number of trading boards.

I did the same and at least four people in front of me today did as well.

While I didn't love this years coffee as much as past years I thought it was considerably better than prop.
