If your going to go on another whim soon I would keep an eye out (or ask for) Lost Abbey my black parade and angels share. Although angels share is technically a barleywine. Not the cheapest options to be honest....

Lagunitis high westified is tasting mighty fine right now.

@HawksBeerFan , Pollyanna BA oatmeal stout is solid. Their BA personal chain letter is too notch, but I think that's brewery only.

I'm biased since my buddy is the head brewer at Metal Monkey, but they have damn good beer. Asmodeus is very good. Looking forward to the BA version.

BA Personal Chain Letter was released in limited bombers last year and is only on tap now.

They also make a double barrel version too that is solid.

Pretty sure I still saw it at Capone's earlier in the week, as well as somewhere else but can't recall where.

If you're anywhere near Wicker Park, you might try calling Liquor Park (if you already haven't). They had quite a few last week and it didn't seem to be moving like it was at Binny's

Went to Buckle Down today and got 3 BA Significant. Amazing brew. Imperial Oak released their BA scottish ale today too, it wasn't that crowded, so might be some left.

Drinking a High Westified right now and not super impressed.

The Dosvidanya I had last night was friggin awesome, I don't remember liking it all that much at FOBAB last year but man was the bottle I had good. I also managed to find the rye version this afternoon (WLL).

I also grabbed a Blackout Stout and Plead the 5th. Blackout is one of my all time favorites, was one of the very first beers that blew me away back when I first started getting into craft beer. So, I'm excited to see how it compares now.

Has anyone tried Avery's Vanilla Bean stout? I keep seeing it and wanting to pull the trigger but haven't yet.

Honestly, and it's just my opinion, but I wouldn't waste the money. I had one of the first wave last year and I remember it being just OK. If I can recall it was thin, light on the vanilla and pretty hot. It wasn't terrible I just thought it wasn't worth the 12 or 13 dollars it cost. But this was last year's so maybe this year's is improved. I would check recent reviews on here or untappd to see if it's any better before I bought it.

Any BA stout with vanilla sitting on the shelves for weeks is a pretty telling sign. Again, IMHO.

Any idea on the price of those lost abbey brews?

Unfortunately yes. I believe they were 16.99 or 17.99 plus tax each. Total out the door was north of 40.

I normally don't spend that much on individual bottles (375ml ) but I have never seen them before and wanted to try them.

Interesting you thought it was hot since I don't think it is barrel aged. It's rated 91 on this site.

They would both have been just around $20 with tax I think. Saw them and I passed. I like Lost Abbey's stuff but some of their prices are just ridiculous.

I'm not surprised with those prices. Last year Lost abbey did a brewery only release of My Black Parade in a 750ml and it was $41

Yeah, the prices are comparable to most of their releases. What I have had from them has been good but I didn't feel it was worth the price. The Bruery's stuff on the other hand..

Is this a brand new batch of Plead the Fifth? Big favorite of mine, I'm dying for it to come out...
