Planning on getting new glassware for beer. Aside from pint glass what other glassware can be used for multiple beer styles?

A snifter or tulip-shaped glass is definitely the way to go. I have one of the Dogfish Head snifters and also find it to be very versatile and a pleasure to hold and use.

Here's another glass that is quite beautiful and can be ordered (just ordered a couple myself)... the Lost Abbey Teku

Even though it's not something you'd use for multiple beer styles, if you're like me you'll probably want a couple of open-mouth goblets for enjoying dark Belgian ales (quads and such). The Chimay chalice is easy to find, though my favorite is the Rochefort chalice.

I have way too much damn glassware, but the TEKU is definitely one of my favorites. I use it for just about everything and I think it makes all styles taste better.

Just got a Teku myself.. only ordered one, but excited to use it.

Besides a pint, my everyday glassware is tulip glass and both an generic oversized (25oz) and a Barrier Brewing small (6oz) snifter

How many ounces does a teku hold?

12 ounces comfortably with room for some head. Probably ~ 14-16 ounces to the rim. The picture of the Lost Abbey TEKU above is how mine looks with 12 ounces in it.

That's a nice looking glass. The base is solid but is the bowl also a heavy glass or extra fragile?

I love stems, but for everyday use my Sam Adams Perfect Pint Glass fits conveniently into the cup holders in my couch, while still providing many of the benefits that a stemmed glass often does.

    It's very convenient.

But yea, I just split an order for a couple of Teku glasses with a friend, myself... It looks awesome.

Its heavy glass. The DFH glass is definitely the most substantial feeling glass I have used. I had one of the Lost Abbey Teku glasses (loved it til it shattered) and I have a Stone IRS glass that I use a lot, but they are both much more fragile feeling. The DFH glass has a sturdy stem and base (obvious from the pics) and the bowl itself is pretty thick and sturdy. I take my DFH glass to my friends' houses or my parents' house when I come over and I bring beers with me. I'm not afraid to travel with it because its hefty.

How has no one said Duvel tulip yet? I have several other glasses that I love (I'm looking at you, over-sized snifter), but if I could only have one beer glass the Duvel tulip would be it, hands down.

gotta agree with this post. best all around glass is probably the little duvel taster tulips. part snifter part tulip. my favorite styles are tulps and snifters. i tend to go move tulip for ipa styles and snifters with fat bottoms for stouts and BA beers. ultimately (and i'm just one opinion) i find that a glass with a narrower opening than bottom is the way to go. these types of glasses come in all styles, and really pinch the odors so the nose comes up big. the nose is your first passage to your taste so why not get a great whiff of what you are about to drink. i rarely use a pint...mostly use them for water. there are many glasses that do the job for every beer, snifters being my fav, with tulips as a close second. if you can find someone with a nice collection, grab a beer and pour it into several glasses and compare the experience. i've done this many times and find that snifters are always the best unless there is something unpleasant in the smell like metal or oxidation or nail polish. see what works best for you, but you can't go wrong with a smaller duvel tulip, the oversized ones seem to lose a lot of the nose in my experience.

I have one of these from Great Divide. It's pretty awesome. Apparently it's called a cervoise glass.

It's worth pointing out that the Dogfish Head glass (like many others these days) has that cool laser-etched logo (nucleation) on the bottom of the glass that creates that nice cascade of bubbles. It's definitely something I like to see in a glass, though I'm not sure if everyone else likes it as much as I do. New Belgium's glasses (which I also have and use often) have this feature too...

Yeah I love the laser etched logo thing. Its a cool idea, whether or not it actually helps the beer breath as much ad they claim.

This is my other favorite, though it has no etching like I was just talking about

I have both the Stone RIS glass and the New Belgium Globes... Like them both and use both.

But, my go-to stem (until my new Lost Abbey Teku glass comes) is probably my Bruery tulip:

The shortcoming of the Stone RIS tulip is, IMO, that it is appropriately sized to enjoy a hearty serving of Stone RIS out of a bomber. If you measure capacity, I believe it'll hold 17 ounces of water (or beer without head).

So it does what it should very well: be a great compliment for Stone RIS. But I don't find it to be as useful for 12 (or 11.2) ounce bottles or for less-hearty pours off my draft system.

For that reason, I find the Bruery tulip to be more versatile, at least for my needs (I drink more 12-ounce bottles and pour smaller servings off my draft, rather than bombers and big pours).

I love my Delirium Tremens tulip. Something extra cool about having pink elephants on your glass.
