Had this on Saturday and I concur. Delicious hazelnut coffee with good barrel presence that didn't overpower. My wife doesn't like "boozy" BA stouts/porters, but loved this one. Props to Dry Dock, haven't had them all by any means, but I've yet to open a BA offering that I didn't thoroughly enjoy.

Just browsing threads here and I have to ask... what is S26? And what dark star are you referring to?

I liked the earlier DD Signature Series beers, and I think they've gotten steadily better. Either due to minor tweaks or (like the Coffee/Hazelnut) a tweaked offering.

S26 = Station 26. Dark star is their annual barrel aged imperial stout release.

I'm not sure, either. I don't think I have ever purchased the BA version prior to this recent bottle, so I have nothing to compare it to. The 375 ml format is kinda odd for a beer at 13.5% or whatever...it is a lot to take down on a work night, but not quite enough to share.

And yeah, super intense beer. Perfect for a night like tonight, when you need to warm up, but not the most subtle offering.

ETA: It sorta reminds me of early batches of Big Bad Baptist.

This is the first time the BA has ever been bottled and only the second bottling for Nightmare in general (1st batch was 22oz, 2nd 375ml). I think the BA is like 11.99/375ml and IMO, definitely worth the purchase at least once. I just finished the bottle I had and really enjoyed it. I sipped it over the course of 90 minutes (Westworld season finale yo!) and each sip was an evolution - started like straight cold brew coffee with dark chocolate but developed huge whiskey and vanilla notes as it warmed.

I thought last years Nightmare Fuel was aged in whiskey barrels, but that was a year ago and I could be wrong. And doing some google searches it looks like it was not. I guess I'll have to give this one a spin to see how the barrels have changed it.

Liquid Brain is released. Limit 3. The price was upped to $16 this year. It was not on tap @ B&B.

Hell to the yes, gonna grab some at B&B tonight before the Christmas party. Any other early session folks in here?

They don't usually do draft and bottles of their BA stuff at the same time.
We're doing the late session tonight. There should be plenty of Brain to go around - at least 2K bottles just based upon photos of bottle #'s. That doesn't even count anything stashed away.

Does Liquid Brain see distro or tap room only?

Grapevine has some, not sure if other liquor stores get it.

I believe the last batch of Liquid Brain was distro'd to normal B&B outlets, but I dunno if Royal Oil was. I'd probably check with Mile High and Davidson's. If they don't get it, it's probably exclusively for Glendale.

Have not, but put my local shop on high alert for when it's available. I plan to get at least 2 of not 3 sixers.

although tweak is only aged for a bit in bourbon barrels, I'd still say it's the best CO stout. Or barrel aged Yeti. Oil man from Elevation isn't mentioned much here either, and is incredible. I have had one bottle of it that was subpar, but the other three or so I've had have been some of the better stouts I've had.

Why would you say it's only aged for a bit? As far as I know, it's a yearly release (although batch 3 came out a bit early). It's pretty safe to say it's great though, it's the #1 rated beer from Colorado on Beer Advocate, or at least it used to be.

I want to say that it's aged 4 months, which isn't super long compared to many beers that get about a year.

I could be wrong but I think it's only aged in barrels for either four or six months like the botanical series. I dont' get much bourbon from it either way. Still, love the coffee and residual sweetness of that one. loved it going back to the Meph addict days of trying it at the Arapahoe brewery.
