Hey, man, like he's copying me...except I poured mine in a big ol' glass and I am too lazy to take a picture so I'll steal his...

But man, what a nice brew this is. Had to run an errand we couldn't do yesterday, so we said the heck with the cooking and dined out. After a decently spicy bowl of what passes for jambalaya around here, this is washing things down VERY nicely after the short ride home. Bready, floral, earthy, grapefruit and citrus/tropical, and finishes with a toast note, sort of pilsner-like. Creamy and soft, but with a nice bitterness level at the finish. Clear, excellent looking brew. Diggin' this one...definitely recommended.

And because I feel like weird synthesizers and power horns tonight...

Wife and I are both horn players, so records from early Chicago, B, S & T, Maynard Ferguson, Doc Severinsen, Woody Herman, etc. got played a lot. Squirrel.... my wife plays a vintage Doc Severinsen Getzen pro model trumpet she bought new that was considered "too much horn for a girl" back in the day, but she never got the memo. Actually when we were young ANY brass instrument was too much horn for mere girls... Anyway, I believe the grooves are worn off the three Bill Chase albums, especially the B-side of the album Ennea. Weird Greek mythology inspired lyrics aside, it featured some great, tight jazz progressions. He was from around here, too, but another one gone too soon thanks to an airplane.

    Carry on...

Keeping it local, watching the local team embarrass themselves. Nice herbal dankiness to this. Very good.

To celebrate the 83rd anniversary of Prohibition ending, a Biere de Garde from Spilled Grain is in order.

Awesome post - including the others I love Early Chicago. Had the opportunity to play drums in a Chicago band while in my brief stint into the college world. Loved Terry Kath and the fusion with the horn section. one of the all time great bands Imo.

I've been blasting Kenton Plays Chicago in my car the last couple of weeks. Kenton knew horn arranging...and saxes too.

Horn player, eh? Nice! I used to play trombone, and @joe1510 plays an instrument too, I believe. Some kind of flute, was it? :stuck_out_tongue:

This beer was packaged on 9/2/15 and I bought a four pack from the brewery on 9/4/15. I decided to let one sit for a year even though it's only 6.5%. Probably wouldn't do that again although it's not bad.

So my four-year old son knocked over our Christmas tree today and broke some of my wife's favorite ornaments. She lost it a little. Sometimes as parents we say things we shouldn't then we feel worse than ours kids. I came home early from work and helped clean up the glass and gallon of water on the floor.

I spent all weekend working double/damn near triple shifts and didn't have time for a beer hardly in between. I missed you guys. Today being the end of Prohibitons anniversary, I've decided my spot at the virtual bar isn't rotating, and I'm getting firmly drunk to celebrate the weekend.

That being said, photobucket is goddamn near unusable right now. It's absurd.

Anyway, this was way tastier than I expected.
