Hi all, A friend and I are hitting Austin for the weekend December 9-11th. And I was wondering if there were any good beer-related events to watch out for. I know there are numerous threads about Austin, and I will trawl through those, but if anyone has any new recommendations for a brewery/bar to visit at that particular time of year then that would be great. Also - if anyone has ideas for other 'fun' activities (ie. before the bars open) for a couple of 40-ish (going on 20-ish) then please also let me know. And as a fervent Liverpool supporter somewhere to watch the EPL would be great! Current plans....thinking maybe one of the karting locations, Rainey St, Jester King at the moment. Cheers everyone GC

I would steer you towards Haymaker for EPL games. They open early for the early games. They have a much better tap list than Fado. Too far out to have any clue what is going on that weekend as far as beer events.

It's in many of the other Austin threads, but after making my first trip there for the Spon release, I'd make sure to hit Pinthouse Pizza for a meal/beer. Solid Pizza and sifted through 6 of the 12 of their beers on tap and wasn't disappointed across a variety of styles with the IPAs being standouts.
Seems like there should still be Spon bottles at Jester King this weekend. Check their website/social media in the next couple of days for the draft and bottle to go list for this weekend.
FYI - Live Oak Brewery is closed on Saturday for staff holiday party. So, if it is on your list (and it should be), hit it on Friday or Sunday.
110% agree. I did a flight when I went on top of having a pint of electronic jellyfish and was surprised how well all their beers tasted across a variety of styles. Pizza was on point too!
Do any of the bottle shops commonly have Yellow Rose? I know that Jester King has it, but I'm only going to be in town Wed - Fri this week. Also, anyone know the bottleshop that has the best inventory of 5 Stones beers? They have a beer locator on their site, but I don't want to take Fasten to one to find they only carry one of their beers. Thanks!
Yellow Rose still goes pretty quickly. HEB Mueller got some in yesterday. If you find some 5 stones, definitely try Mellow Rainbow. That's one of the best melon beers I've had.
I know the specs on Brodie has 5 stones, not sure which ones, haven't been in a while. But I remember last year they consistently had 5-6 different beers. Good luck Cheers!
One more thing - any recommendations for good places to play pool (of course with a solid tap list). Preferably 'winner stays on' type places please where we can show some locals how to play ;-) Cheers again
Not really up to date on the pool scene but I would be happy to spend an afternoon/evening shooting pool and drinking beers at Crown & Anchor. Grab a burger basket.
Deep Eddy Cabaret has pool tables and pitchers of Natty Lite for around $5.00 Or at least they used too, it has been a few years since my last visit.
