Appearance of light gold with good cap and lacing.

Aroma of spicy, piney hops and dark sweet malt.

Taste is a pleasant mixture of sharp hops and caramel malt. It's as if they took a richly flavored Oktoberfest and added a whammo hit (60 IBU) of piney hops. I like it. The hops and malt interweave well together in a balancing act that doesn't trip.

Overall this combination works. The brewer's tag lines announce their intention, Anonymous IPA, no name, big taste, and, an IPA by any other name is just pale. Clearly the goal of big flavor was achieved.

Let's not forget the 2,403 service men and women who innocently lost their lives today in Hawaii 75 years ago today. What a terrible moment in history and the start of WWII.

 

I pleasantly surprised to find this today. I didn't even know it existed. 7.8% ABV some nice herbal earthy hops, with a hint of ripe mellon and piny grapefruit finish.

 

Two ways to look at it...there is always room for improvement. Or...

So got to hold the grandson for quite a while today and glad to report that everyone us doing well. I apologize for not posting a picture as much as I wanna...not sure if doing so would be disrespecting their privacy or not. My son said his sister will be godmother...man, do they surprise the hell outta ya when you least expect it and my daughter will be thrilled.

Shitty day here, but ya know I don't care. Not often that I get off the even keel approach to life, but I am in that upcycle thing right now. Silliness? Been hitting the U Wisc bookstore website looking at all the baby Badger gear. Northeastern U bookstore (both of us got our undergrads there) pales in comparison, go Badgers...who should fire their coach for running outside on 4th and 1 with the game and Rose Bowl berth on the line, but I digress... Actually had a civil phone call with my mother, told her to get her ass to the hospital and see that there great-grandchild. plus realized we have a unique opportunity...with my Dad we can take a four generation picture that will be all male...that is cool. Missed that chance with my son as both his GGFs were deceased.

So after spending a couple hours in the maternity ward with ample baby-passing, the missus is giving a STEM seminar at a local community college and I have the very quiet house to my own self. Well, the 17 year old lab is snoring up a storm... That bottle of Curieux is still in the chill chest, but it now has drool all over it...we will be sharing that later with a dinner of flounder fillets in Thai ginger sauce.

Sitting here chilling, and drinking some Kiwi Rising from Jack's Abby and sucking it down waaayyyyy too fast on an empty since breakfast belly, and it is mild buzz time fo' sho', but screw it. Tastes great, totally filling, and right now the heck with it, I want another one.

For some reason, out of the bazillion or so tunes that run loose in my brain, this one immediately pops to No 1 on the mental hit parade when I feel all soft and philosophical...no clue...
