Looks like cans of Close Talker and Oops! I Mangoed My Pants are dropping soon. No date yet, but I'm expecting this weekend?

I'll be swinging by after work for sure. Close Talker is my favorite SC beer.

There's actually a line. At 330 on a Thursday. If I didnt work so close I'd never be here.

There were probably 40 or so when I got here at 340. Just got to the door.

Not too bad. With 140 cases of each, hopefully last until tomorrow or weekend. How many 4 packs are most people buying?

Not bad today. Got there 5 minutes before opening and was out at 03:40. A couple people maxed out, but most didn't.

Drinking a can of Mangoed right now. I was skeptical, but this is very good. The mango doesn't overpower the hops and it doesn't suffer from the problems that Mago Tago and Never & Again did. Color me impressed.

Most people were buying mixed cases (3 and 3) from what I could see. A few people did buy max 2 cases but definitely in the minority. It wasn't too bad, but I definitely was not dressed to be standing in a line in that wind tunnel.

I will try the beers tonight and report back for sure.

I give up, Sand City just tweeted only 30 cases left of Oops and 35 of Close Talker, that means on a Thursday afternoon in 2 1/2 hours 110 cases and 105 sold. Craft beer people suck. The mentality of have to have everything and buy as much as I can ruining the culture.

That is nuts. I thought for sure it would last until Saturday.

I remember not too long ago grabbing Fade to Jade well after the release.

Oh and to your point I did hear some guy behind me talking about the insane line he waited in OH on saturday (5 days ago for those mathematically challenged) but luckily walked away with a case of beer and bottles. Then he bought two cases of beer. Who the fuck needs that much beer?

Maybe I'm in the minority, but my expectations met reality today. When I got to Sand City there was already a line with a constant stream of people jumping on after doors opened. They were offering two new canned beers; one of which has been available on tap previously with a good amount of positive feedback.

Also not too sure why anyone was surprised that there was a line before opening. They've had a line before opening at every one of their releases. Day and time only matters to an extent. Many people (like myself) don't exactly work bankers' hours and are free at times of the day when the majority of the workforce aren't. Talking with some people on line, seems like a lot of them either had the day off, were on vacation, or just got out of work.

Exactly. There is a segment of the craft beer population that needs to buy every single release and get as much as they can. I am sure many don't max out, but god forbid some people get less than they can so others can get some too. Thursday release in the afternoon and all the beer is gone. Hoarders and those fortunate enough to be able to go got theirs, the rest of us be damned.

With case limits, short term SC makes out with a sell-out, but longer term loses out as not as many people got the beer.

I honestly did not expect there to be a line but really wasn't "disappointed" to find out there was when I walked up 10 mins after opening. It happens everywhere now. I think we're kind of just bummed at how short of a time it took SC to get hyped up for a Thursday afternoon release to basically almost sell out in a Village that is really not near anything. I know when I turned the corner and saw the line, even though it wasn't bad, I said "fuck" to myself. The next 5 people to walk up behind me said "fuck" out loud, and 4 of them were from Northport.

Now that SC clearly has a following, I think dropping the limits would serve best for their future releases. It would help reduce the inevitable "line up 7 hours before a release" crowd that will come if they can only score a few 4-packs or half a case of one beer.

I share beer with my friends and family all the time but I'm sure as hell not going to buy 3 cases of beer in a week (while waiting several hours in line for one release) without my friends putting in some effort.

Not all my friends have the schedule I have to hit beer releases so if there is something Im going for usually always max. They'll be drinking it at my house or begging to get hooked up.
It's really only a couple cases of beer we're talking about. If I'm going to a friend's for football, I'll bring at least a 12 pack.

Not everyones friends drink the same beer as them. My friends drink, plenty. We grew up in a town where it was normal to start drinking at 13 years old (not saying thats a positive thing, At all. Definitely isn't). We have 35+ bars in 4 miles. But because they drink doesnt mean they drink good beer. Some of them will drink good beers when I bring them over, but arent the ones to go wait in line at a beer release so its basically just me. The others drink swill. And they definitely would balk at the idea of spending $16-20 on a 4-pack of beer.

Not everyone who goes to max out is bringing beer to their friends. Some are, but not everyone drinks the same beers we do here on BA.
