I don't know if I want to like these posts, or hate you or just follow you around town to get a case of black note! I haven't been able to get a single bottle!

Hopefully you were able to score some. It's my favorite beer and the only one I chase around for. I got 4 total and I'm probably done looking for more.

I got 1 Black Note about an hour ago at MGM Calhoun. Had to ask and the guy begrudgingly grabbed more from in back, ha. There weren't any on the shelf, but he came out with 6 bottles, of which I got 1. $7.99 because it's MGM Calhoun, but still couldn't pass it up. They also have Jolly Russian and DSDB. I think the DSDB was $25.99. (Maybe $26.99)

Agreed, it's well worth the chase imo, only had it once, for whatever reason it's been elusive to track down. Consolation found a big bad baptista today and it's tasting amazing, need to find another.

Absolutely loved this at ABR, right up there with Starkeller Peach IMO.

By the way, has anyone seen their 2016 Cave BA beer yet?

Anyone else see the weird twitter rant by Ale Jail and someone from Zipps? Seemed like they were annoyed by all the phone calls over the last few days. I didn't agree with their point because when limited quantity beers get released people start looking outside of their regular store and call around....

Anyways, they're two of the top 10 IMO so if they want to blow off steam thats fine.

    ISO: Black Note

Just a guess but I think the rant was more about dealing with entitled people who were pissed off about striking out on BN/Abraxas, not people calling to ask

They were upset because truck chasers bought up all the Abraxas, Black Note, and BA Pentagram immediately. None of their regular customers got any and they still got a ton of calls after they were gone. I wonder if any stores think I'm a regular.

How does one actually "chase" a truck?

So, you're somehow following one of the 100 trucks from whatever distributor. Do they start following at the warehouse itself? What day? What time?

What happens when the truck stops at a liquor store, unloads in the back, and leaves right away. How does one even buy the beer? I've stopped at liquor stores after work that haven't put out beer delivered hours ago.

The whole idea of "truck chasers" is complete B.S. if you ask me.

Going from liquor store to liquor store is one thing. Alot post on Facebook, Twitter, etc...plus calling there and asking. Nothing wrong with any of that IMHO.

Stopped at 2 liquor stores after work this week. No Abraxas or Black Note to be found. Zero fu#$* given. Had it many times in the past. Bought some Tood or Apple Brandy Noir.

If these bottle shops wanted to make sure their regular customers were able to buy rare beers, they could hold some in the back until they came in. I'm sure this practice is at least semi-common.

It is, & I hate it. There are places around the country (Chicago comes to mind) where this is much more common, & it's harder for us "normal" people go get around the lists & regular customers who get all of the "rare" stuff.

It's not. I know someone that during the BA Darkness release last year called stores to ask about delivery times, then would go sit in his car & hang out until the truck showed up. Rinse & repeat. So not technically "chasing", this guy was on the spot when it was delivered. Anecdotal, sure, but there have been other stories about it too. I know Blue Max had an issue with truck chasers a couple years ago.

While I agree that having to sign up on a list for releases is a hassle being a regular at a liquor store has advantages. Someone cleaned out some western suburbs of Schell's Cave Aged BA lager bragging to one store's worker about how much he was clearing out from the stores. I was lucky to get one 6 pack hidden in the back away from this chaser/hoarder.

Also, I was very happy when I walked into my favorite store last night and was given a bottle of Black Note. Being a regular at a store can be rewarding because the chasers are taking the fun out of looking for rarer releases.
