Anyone aware if they'll be selling bottles and pouring Deth and Cafe Deth before 5? Cant make the party, but wanted to swing by earlier and give them both a try on tap before I buy bottles.

For some reason I thought the two bottled versions would be for sale/on tap all day, but reading the event listing again, they don't mention anything until 5pm. So my guess is everything's going on tap at 5.

Place is PACKED. Almost no free seats, relatively long line for pours. Moves fast, though. V.S.O.D. is excellent.

Asked if that was the Old Forester barrels. It was. By far, amazing.

Vanilla kicked like two people before me but VSOD is awesome.

    Cafe is solid

The naming convention was weird; I still don't know what it means.
Vanilla has a fantastic nose and lots of cacao, but it's thin and not as sweet as I'd like. VSOD is thicker, sweeter and complex. I think you got the better beer anyway (Deth's Rare?).

By far. Wish regular Deth was like this, for price and taste all Eugine are my favs. Can't wait for Bean Geane. Not complaining but quick notes as I'm drinking.

Man I didn't realize VSOD was the 21 Forrester until I got in the bottle line, then didn't have time to go back to the draft taps. Only got the vanilla - which I thought was fan freaking tastic. Got the impression on the way out they were holding the line at the door.

When I left at 6ish there were like 30 people in line waiting to get in. I left, so one went in.

I'm hoping the tap-only variants were an experiment on demand. Given how quickly they were going, my hope is that Rev expands the event and eventually bottles all these bad boys.

Special shout-out to the bartenders--They were pouring fast as hell, letting everyone get multiple pours, and moving the line through in an efficient manner. When I got to Rev I had second thoughts about the tap line, but they really made it work, and I have no complaints.

First time having Deth's Tar - pretty good. Oily mouthfeel with nice dark chocolate notes without tasting too boozy. Recently enjoyed the Willett imperial stout a lot more, though.

Appreciated the line movement on the taps, but had an irritating experience with one of the bartenders. Asked for the 21 month barrel aged version of the Deth's Tar and was rudely told that all Deth's Tars are barrel aged - and then she proceeded to pour the normal Deth's Tar. Maybe next time they'll make it more clear that the VSOD was the one we were looking for.

Yeh I don't understand why they didn't title it in their promotional material. That's probably why the vanilla ran out first people either didn't know what to ask for or do don't realize it was tapped

Sorta similar experience, but I kinda get it. Tons of people in line and they are trying to move as fast as possible. Also, all of the Tars were aged in the same barrels, VSOD was just in them for 21 months. I think it was renamed just because it was hard to write that all on a chalk board. Kinda wish I got a flight but I've had Deth before and bought a bottle of Cafe so thought it was kinda pointless. One again, not too bad, but the more I go to these things the more I get a sense of what's going on and how they intended to run their show.

Is Rev no longer using Woodford Reserve barrels as their primary bourbon barrel option? VSOD seems a bit more special because they weren't using Old Forester previously. Seems like this was a special one off

Not one mention of Deth by Cherries? I thought that was the star of the show last night.

Solid, well-run event. For me, Vsod > Deth by Cherries > Cafe > Deth's. Didn't get to try vanilla but these 4 were all really good. Thought Rev staff was organized and moved everyone along quickly.

I also agree. While I enjoyed VSOD, and Cafe Deth, that Deth by Cherries took the cake. Definitely was taken by surprise on that one.

The fruit/tartness in cafe deth was a nice surprise. Really enjoyed the blend they used

Next year they need to go ticketed tasting where you get a 4 oz pour of all the variants similar to what GI Clybourn does on Black Friday.
