I'm catholic, more in name than practice. But I gave up all alcohol for Lent last year. 6 weeks from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday. Not a drop. I broke the dry spell on Easter with a religious themed lineup. Started with a Russian River Supplication, Consecration, and Sanctification. And capped it off with a Westvleteren 12

Funny thread for me tonight. Just took off two weeks while trying to fight off a cold. First real break from me since January. Started with a fresh can of Founders Azacca IPA. Now sipping on a Founders Rubaeus(Founders beer was given to me by a sales rep). I am going to finish with a 2012 Bells Expedition Stout at cellar temp.

Thinking about going Dry for January to cut calories and start the year off on a positive note. The two weeks off were not difficult which was a good sign.

Been 5 days for me right now, am cutting way back for health reasons, and am gonna quit completely for a month after NYE. Didn't realize how personal this thread would become for me when it started.

I take off a few months periodically to lose some pounds with a low-carb diet. Stouts are what I crave the most. The last time it was a Péché Mortel.

Welp, happy to say that I've been back, and enjoying a few brews. Over the last 5 days:

Day 1 - The Brown Note
    Day 2 - Bell's Best Brown
Day 4 - The Brown Note, Kalamazoo Stout, Harpoon Porter, All Day IPA

    I enjoyed every sip too!

Honestly, a good refresher/jump starter for me is Lagunitas 12th of Never. I'm sure it might be too hoppy for some, but it's such a great beer to ease me back into my IPAs and IIPAs.

I'm already kind of started one. I'm dieting for the Arnold Classic expo in March. I'm down to just a few beers every other Sunday. Next time I can drink is Christmas and New Year's Eve. The big boys will come out for that. Cellar raid.

After that nothing until after the show. I'm lucky it's in Columbus so I'll hit up hoof hearted and every brewery in the vacinity until I collapse.

I've been known to take a few weeks to more than a month off but I always go right back to what I love, I really nice Porter or a big chocolate /coffee malty stout.

I usually take a 2-3 day break in the middle of the week (even though it's very difficult to do working at a brewery).

But once I'm back, I've recently been heading for Evil Twin Molotov Lite. It just hits all the right spots for that perfect after-work beer for me. Sometimes I'll even finish the 4pk in one night :astonished:
