Love Palo Santo! For a relatively easy to snag beer, it's top tier.

I think the best way to answer this one is by listing the 5 beers I would choose if limited to only drinking 5 beers the rest of my life. Not necessarily my 5 highest rated beers.

    Prairie Standard
    Marble Pilsner
    Odell St. Lupulin
    Epic Big Bad Baptist
    Funkwerks Deceit

The beer that got me into craft....Anchor Steam.

These lists are always tough. I will diversify and list 5 top beers for me, all different styles:

    SARA Saison Bernice
    Alchemist Heady Topper
    Clown Shoes Breakfast Exorcism
    Russian River Beatification
    Fieldwork Bad Conduct

Beer that got me into craft was Arrogant Bastard. Still a good one!

I make that 10. Even by BA standards that's pushing it

I'm aware, I thought it be a boring list if 3 of the 5 were pseudosue, a sue variant and essentially an amped up pseudosue, king sue.
It's tough to get it to 5.

    1. Trillium Scaled way up
    2. Bell's Expedition Stout
    3. Bell's Black Note
    4. Heady Topper
    5. Russian River Consecration

Beer that got me into it: Bell's Two Hearted

I think I could have just those 6 forever.

That's tough to do. I'll go with:

    KBS
    Backwoods Bastard
    Black Note
    Pirate Bomb
    Grapefruit Sculpin

The one(s) that got me started were:
    Tank 7
    Brooklyn Local 1
    Sweetwater Blue

  15. CCBone

It really is tough to narrow this list to 5, but here it goes...

    1. King Sue-TG
    2. Pliny the Elder-Russian River
    3. Bourbon County Brand Stout-Goose Island
    4. Barrel Aged Bomb-Prairie
    5. Rose de Gambrinus- Cantillon and Zombie Dust-FFF

The beer that got me into craft was left hand milk stout. As far as what really started to expand my palate-that would be brew dog paradox isle of Arran. First beer that truly "blew my mind" at the time

I should also qualify this by saying I have never had any of the big NE beers (trillium, tree houses hill farmstead, etc etc)

I love it, unfortunately I don't live in their distro. I pick it up when I travel and can't always find it fresh. Right now I have a few in the cellar but none newer than 1 1/2 years and a few 3 year old bottles. luckily it's great at all points I've had it, hard to beat it fresh - a year or so old though.

My fav five are relatively easy to get by the case and I always have at least two (currently three) on hand:

    Founders Breakfast Stout
    Sierra Nevada Narwhal
    Aecht Schlenkerla Marzen
    Victory HopDevil
    Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald

And the starter: Sam Adams Boston Lager. "What's that weird taste?" "Them's hops." "WTF are hops?" and so on. After that, no more Iron City or Schmidt's.
