The first BQE release a couple years back was a mess. No organization and only 1 guy at the register. Total fail.

Amazing that they still can't figure it out.

The brews of NYC keep getting better and better every year, but the logistics of actually selling beer seem to be getting worse. I can't even imagine how much money was lost at Finback yesterday from poor line management and the inability to easily grab a pour (or even food for that matter). The whole line should've been rerouted inside to get people off the street and beers in people's hands. After spending upwards of 2 hours in line I didn't have time to grab a few pours nor did I want to wait even longer at the bar that was 3 deep the entire time. The one iPad for checkout was rage inducing. How hard is it plug another reader into an iPhone? I don't get it. Maybe they're making money hand over fist and all gravy at this point so it doesn't really matter. I've always felt they've had a great space that was never used properly. Hopefully they can figure things out at some point...

Agreed. I had planned on having a beer or two but after 2 hours in line I didnt have time to have any beer. 2 hours is way more than I had expected to stay there. We all know it takes lightyears to get a beer during busy days.

I went last night around 7ish and it was back to a normal night crowd. Plenty of Oscillation left, so got a few 4 packs. I was fortunate enough to buy one of the gift boxes online, so I was able to pick that up no problem. Had BQE, BQExC, and 7 on tap - was able to get 12oz pours of everything.

Not that I care what people purchase, but I'd be curious to know how many people who won box sets lined up to double dip.

to be fair, finback's comment on instagram I believe when someone asked if there would be a separate line for box sets was along the lines that they didn't think it was necessary because they thought they would also be waiting for the full allotment too.

Here's the post I was referring to, it was made on the photo of the three cans.

I saw one guy (who's always drinking outside on the line) pick up multiple box sets, max out on bottles then ask other people on line who weren't maxing out to buy bottles for him.

So many great things about this hobby and great people, but this element of the hobby really takes away from it sometimes. What the eff is wrong with people?

And when did it become acceptable for people to think just because they are waiting in line to buy beer that is OK to drink illegally in public.

Every time I see things like this, I get so damn skeeved out about the craft beer scene overall. So many scumbags. It must be really exhausting being such a selfish douche.

Don't get down on the scene, blame the individuals. In any group of people there will always be classless scumbags who don't know how to behave in public. It happens at sporting events, concerts, parades, even public parks. I'm all for having fun no matter where you are, but it's also about being discreet. If you want to drink in line, bring a coffee travel mug and drink out of that. If you're bringing #properglassware to line and getting bombed you look like a royal d1Ld0.

This. There is absolutely no sense behind it. Particularly for this release, there should be at least 3 terminals ready for bottle sales & 2 for draft sales.

I'm not defending the guy, because he's gonna have to hustle those bottles, especially since Finback doesn't really trade. Still a douche canoe.

I feel like this needs to be copy/paste'd for every Other Half release.

Nope, bought the box online because I knew I couldn't make it yesterday, I'll be picking it up next Saturday. Any chance oscillation 7 cans last till then? Hoping to grab a four pack, 5 & 6 were great!

Double dipped here. If I'm going to only be allowed to get 2 bottles of 2016 in the box (during the time where 5 is the max, though 4 by the time I made it to the front) and I have to wait in that line for my box, I'm going to grab a couple extra.

Also Oscillation 7 had a ton of melon. If I wasn't weighed down by OH stouts, I probably would've added a 4 pack.

Weren't they allowing people who bought boxes to just come in and pick them up? Asking because I'm really uncertain on this topic. As brought up before, they said there would be no separate line. But yesterday when I was online, the two guys in front of me where waiting for their friend who left OH at the same time as them who they thought was still looking for parking. Turns out he already went inside and picked up his box set and was out before they even got to the door (over an hour btw).

Seems to be some ambiguity on this.

I bought a gift box but also wanted a couple extra bottles and some OSC7 packs so I waited in line. I feel like if you wanted to just grab your box and get out you could've though. It was literally just checking off a name and handing it over. I'm guessing everyone that wanted a gift box also wanted other stuff too.
