I would just note that sometimes people who max are getting for friends who can't make it or went somewhere else and are just exchanging different beers.

Although the guy described above does seem a bit excessive...

 

Yeah, I wasn't trying to criticize people who maxed out, or even bought bottles and a box. They waited on line for bottle and cans so I wouldn't consider it "double dipping". BQE is tasting nice.

 

The convenience of buying the box set + reading all these comments makes me really happy I did so. Looking forward to strolling in this week and picking it up. Wish I could get another bottle of BA BQE though.

Did Finback at least remove bar stools this time? At their anniversary it was such a shit show trying to order at the bar because people were posted up on stools the whole day.

 

Not necessary. They set up a table to the right of the bar for the release.

 

I think he was speaking in terms of being able to get pours before/after the line for bottles.

Anyway I've pretty much given up on releases in NYC, they're a shitshow 99% of the time. While expensive, I bought the gift set instead. Headed over there yesterday, picked up without a line. The BQExC on tap was phenomenal. The BA BQE had this drying/grainy-ness to it, hopefully that subsides over time.

Highly recommend hitting up LIC Beer Project if you're visiting Finback, about 30 minute drive, great space, great beer. I'm in love with their Grisette.

 

Yes this. They always have the table for can/bottle releases. I'm speaking about getting drafts/growlers at the bar. Took me 30 minutes last time just to get a small pour of something because of how disorganized they were (only 2 bartenders, people posted up sitting at the bar plus a plethora of people trying to order behind them).

 

They had extra bartenders working behind the bar that stayed past the sellout of BQE. The four bartenders were good.

 

Curious of everyone's thoughts on this Oscillation..... it's been quite a while since I had one of the previous iterations, so not mega acquainted with this lineup.

This would be amazing in the summer, very refreshing, would be my version of a session,would put these out in gen-pop cooler at a bbq, but not stacking up against the IPA arsenal I got going on right now.....

I really am enjoying it, and it is very easy drinking for the abv. While it is not as good (IMO) as 006, it does have that gummy bear flavor I have come to expect from Oscillation. My view is it tastes sort of like Oscillation006 and Mastermind had a kid. I'll still take it over many of the NY area stuff including pretty much all Grimm at this point (especially on the price point), and lots of OH's recent cannings.

Looks like location is @kcbc and being brewed there so I'd say it's a good bet it'll get released there. Agree it's much more convenient.
