Do you guys think there is any chance they sell these out first day? I would like to just get there a little later and pick up some bottles without the hassle, maybe around 6-6:30.

Highly unlikely. 6-630 would be a smart move. No reason to wait in line before 4 when you should be able to cruise through by 7. Traffic is the only reason I tend to make it out there earlier on fridays...

@justareallybuffdude Couldn't agree more with Wolf, this is always how it goes, unless it's something like Atrial or the spirit-barrel aged fruits.

1500 people maxing out on bottles is a boat load of people. Have that many ever gone to a release in a single day at JK? My money is this not coming close to selling out Friday but I've been fooled before.

I doubt it sells out on Friday; but if any of the bottles do, my money is on Raspberry-Cherry.

    Here's my best guess:
    • Raspberry-Cherry sells out early Saturday
    • Peach-Apricot sells out late Saturday/Early Sunday
    • Methode Geuze sells out Sunday
    • Flor survives first weekend
    • Children of Austin suffer worst Christmas in recent history

Haha. Nothing to do with driving like a boss. It's just a terrible drive with constant construction. But props to you for enjoying it.

Looks like some of the Spon released in November is still available for purchase at Bottles to Go. Any reason why those haven't sold out other than those were 1pp?

Just trying to handicap my chances are getting any of these on the Friday after.

Because it wasn't fruited and there were so many when you take into account the different blends. I was there the entire weekend for the release and Spon is very tasty but the line was longer for the Red Atrial release on Sunday. The fruits always bring more people out.

Assuming each person buys their limit, only 1500 people have to come through for the variants to sell out as opposed to 4800 people for regular Spon. Also, lots more hype when fruit is involved.

There is much less advanced notice for this weekend though so that may help.

You said "only" 1500 people. That's a ton of people on a Friday! Also, I guarantee everyone won't buy their limit. The price point is pretty high which will keep people from maxing out.

Oh no I agree 1500 is a lot but not compared to 4800. Also he is worried about getting bottles NEXT Friday. 1500 people in a weekend is easy for JK.

I make the trip all the time from Houston. I really don't look at being in line early as some sort of horrific torture en route to getting the bottles. I typically hit up Pieous before hand and get food to go that I eat at JK. Plus, plenty of beer while waiting if Stanley's opens early. No one opens outside beers while waiting for JK to open, of course. I like getting through the bottle and pour lines as quickly as possible, enjoying everything on tap at my own pace, and then heading back home if it's a day trip.

And I'm also that guy who wants to meet every single dog that is there. Conversing with other people is nice and all, but there are so many awesome dogs that everyone brings out to these releases. Especially given the setting, a trip to JK is always enjoyable whether or not I'm there hours before opening or waltzing in at 8 pm.

See most of y'all Friday afternoon.

I also have to make sure I get there before you buy everything.

Chicago dude who just happens to be staying in Austin this weekend. My girlfriend and I are no strangers to release lines, but also not terribly keen on spending a bulk of our vacation waiting for bottles.

We were already planning on heading to JK tomorrow, and the SPON release sweetened the deal. Say we were to get there exactly at 4, should we expect a wait for the tasting room? If not, I'm thinking we may just hang out there until the bottle release line does down, grab some goodies to go, and then head back.

Or, would it be a better idea to get there a little early, grab bottles, and then settle in to the tasting room for some samples?

Go to Pieous around 1:30, get a sandwich, salad, pizza and dessert to go. Then go to JK and get in the bottle line which will probably be around 100 deep at that point. Consume the Pieous food whilst waiting and enjoy the glory that is their food.

When 4 pm gets closer, either you or your girlfriend should get in line for pours either in the tasting room or at the outdoor station. By the time you get pours, whoever is still in the bottle release line will still be 50 or so out. Enjoy pours in line, get your bottles, then plan on getting refills afterwards.
