yeah that's what I was getting at. There wasnt' a big difference between the earlier versions of meph addict that were aged in tanks vs. the bourbon barrel aged tweak.

I think the old Tweak/Meph Addict was a hair better than the BA Tweak from bottles. It's all just a preference thing, though. I just enjoyed that type of coffee a bit more. Plus, I'm not sure the BA element adds a ton. It's still a great beer, though.
These days I'm hung up on the recent versions of BBB. I had one 2 weeks ago and I'm not so sure it wasn't the best coffee big beer I've ever had. My tastes lean in the milder direction (Koffee Kream, Backcountry Breakfast, Genesee Mountain Rainbow, etc.) but Epic has that one dialed in to go down easy for something that big.

Anyone see any brain on the southern end?

I thought Oil Man was a little thin this time, but still tasty. Could have been my palate that day looking for something bigger and more rich.

I too like the non-BA Tweak better and I like intense coffee on occasion. Barrels do something to coffee stouts-I'm not sure what exactly-that didn't work as well with Tweak.

That being said, I liked this year's Tweak from the bottle better than previous versions of BA Tweak.

Also, I just cracked a bottle of BA Genius Wizard from Ratio.... Decent with nice barrel notes but a few odd flavors in there too that drag it down a bit.

Shared Double Barrel Baptist and Copper Kettle's Snowed In side by side last night. Very different beers, but both top tier BBA stouts from our glorious state. The DBB was an absolute chocolate brownie bomb with balanced barrel presence and a thick, frothy mouthfeel. Snowed In was a bit thinner, with slightly more heat up front, but that mix of vanilla, caramel and coffee flavors really made it a delicious treat. Would like to grab another bottle of each to hold onto for next year as I'm sure both will age gracefully.

Also, not BBA, but a friend shared an early underfilled can of Son of Baptist with local coffee. Coming soon in 6 packs, SOB is going to be brewed with a different local coffee roaster each batch. Can't remember which coffee company was featured in this first canning, but the beer was really tasty and I'll definitely be picking up a 6er when I see it.

Woah, SOB is coming in cans? Could never pull the trigger on a 22oz (Yeah, I know it was cheap, but there were always other bottles screaming my name). I'd definitely grab a sixer to try, though.

Going to be headed to Colorado next week for Christmas. Wondering what Colorado barrel aged stouts will be on the shelf. Thanks in advance for the recommendations!

Avery Tweak. Epic Big Bad Baptist (especially the Double Barrel or Baptista variants if you can locate them). Copper Kettle Snowed In. Oskar Blues BA Ten Fidy. Great Divide BA Yeti. River North BA Nightmare Fuel. Dry Dock Signature Series bombers. Odell Jolly Russian. Diebolt Commodore.

I still see all of those on shelves in Boulder. Cheers!

    There is!

Things I've seen recently in addition:

    Crystal Springs Black Saddle
    Big Choice Obeah
Odyssey (forget the name, but there's one version in Law's barrels, one in Breckenridge barrels)

Had BA Genius Wizard last year and thought it was alright. A little thin on the body, OK flavor overall. Given the price point I haven't made any attempt to get '16, though I can't speak on '16 specifically.

I think that this has been mentioned before, but Great Divide is selling BA Yeti for $16 per bottle in the barrel bar. I gave the bartender my AHA card, but he told me that they are just on sale for $16 until Christmas. Based on how the 2015 was tasting last month when I drank my last bottle, it's a pretty good price point.

I was magic #80, the last of the first group allowed in. It made it much easier to get your beer and they called people in 5 at a time to get the Rum cans. They would allow more into the tasting room as people left. Ran smoother the longer it went. As far as the beers themselves, frankly the Rums were pretty good, but not outstanding. The Cedar Creek? Ten FIDY was actually better.

Funny you say this because my friend and I were #60-61 and when they announced that they were letting 1-80 in the taproom first he said,"Man, I'd be pissed if I were #81." However, like you said, they were moving people through the lines pretty quickly and it was very organized. Great job by OB on finally getting the logistics of a release down pat. I would like to assume this is how they will handle major releases going forward. The Rum beers though...very "meh" imo. I thought the rum barrels would've complimented the DBC very well and that wasn't the case. Not bad by any means but just really didn't do anything for me. Same with the rum 10/50. Agreed that the Cedar Creek 10/50 was the best beer there. Didn't stick around for the Disastrous Molasses tapping so can't comment on that. Overall, great job by OB on the actual beer release but the Rum BA beers left a little to be desired.
