I highly recommend the Pony Bar. Also if you want good grub and don't mind walking a little bit for it- Hit up Five Napkins in Hell's Kitchen. It's not that bad of a hike and the beer menu is usually delicious. I was able to score some Adam there and the fried pickles are absolutely delicious.

Hit blind tiger first for beer then Perilla down the block for a nice dinner. perilla has a decent craft beer list and great food.

Very close by, I would recommend Pony Bar and Beer Authority (not amazing food but good pub fare) as they have very good taps/bottles - check BeerMenus.com and their websites before heading over for an up to date tap list.

Trying not to start a similar thread, but I'll be staying in Manhattan (near Battery Park) next week for 5 days. Unfortunately beer is not the top priority of the group, so I'll need to make the most of whatever bars we end up at. So what are the breweries you guys look for when at an average bar? I can't get Southern Tier or Founders out here in California, so I'll definitely be looking for those. Any suggestions?

Iwill definitely make it to at least one of the bars you guys mentioned though.

I can't recommend it enough; Try to convince your group to take the trek over to 5Napkins. It's a fantastic burger/apps (tried the fried pickles, Trust me) and the perfect way to score delicious brews while you eat if your group isn't into the bar scene.
As far as beers I know you can't get out in CA, Try anything from Kelso or the Bronx Brewery. They're definitely not home runs but they are quite tasty and almost guaranteed to be fresh.

Ginger man, blind tiger, rattle and hum, for drinking. For retail, new beer distributors and the whole foods in the Bowery.

Close by to you (Battery Park) Mudville 9 on Chambers and for a bottle shop the Whole Foods (ST & Founders) on Greenwich street. If you wanted to venture over to the Financial District go to Stone Street. Ulysses Folkk House and Growlers Bites & Brews will are good beer bars and there are a buch of good restaurants as well. Cheers!

Thanks guys for the recommendations, those places look great! It's crazy...there's so many awesome places to eat and drink it's hard to choose. Appreciate the help!
