It was posted on a facebook group they were selling at open. I assuming that was why people were lined up and also why they decided to hold most of it back. It's one thing posting that you found bottles at X store but it's a whole other thing posting info personally given to you by an employee who is just tired of telling the people that keep them employed no and a stranger yes. Before anyone Posts info one should say to themselves, would the person giving me said info want it posted and if it's yes, still don't post because your wrong. They would post it themselves if that was the case.

Agreed here. I'm all for posting a "location X has BCS on the shelf behind their counter," but "location X did me a solid because I'm a good customer and sold me a rare bottle from the back" is setting the location up for angry customers, which is a dick move.

True, I was using lazy math (in my head $10 reg, $20 prop), good point.

Plenty of Reg and BW at Binny's SLoop. 2 per person limit on each. Larry said they got it yesterday and Prop and Coffee are gone.

I hate the whole "regular" mentality. Ignoring that Binny's is a fairly large private corporation, there can only be so many "regulars" at a store. Most people who buy booze aren't tracking down the latest beer release, they'll buy what they want when it's nearby whatever else they're doing during their day. "Regulars" aren't keeping these guys employed, it's the thousands of people that stroll into Binny's locations each day. The supply and demand of beer dictates that people will shop around, share info, and buy what they can when they can. Just like supply and demand dictates not everyone can be a "regular" that wants to be.

I stopped at Binny's LP yesterday like I do a few times a month. I asked about a second drop and an employee told me to come when they open and head towards the back. The guy behind me in line asked what else they had and he went to the back, and I saw him checking out with a full Prairie BA set that was clearly reserved for him. They would have sold those beers regardless, and that guy's not going around the store buying shelf turds.

I went there last night with my buddy - we split a bottle of Coffee and Prop, along with having drafts of 2015 and 2016 regular. A nice night of drinking. That $20 bottle of Coffee is a crazy deal for a bar. I didn't particularly want the Prop at that price, but my buddy wanted it so he took three-quarters of it while I just took a pour.

Sure, there's an argument to be had there, but let's be honest, to the employees working the beer section, they probably appreciate the "regulars" asking for BCS more than some random dude(tte) they've never seen. One is a guy they might actually have talked to before, who they know shops there, and another may as well be a dude from the north side who drove down to Binny's South Loop for the first time today, trying to hoard as much BCS as possible. I agree with you that everyone who shops at a store is partially responsible for "keeping the lights on," but I think it's also fair to remember that the people who work there probably appreciate the customers who appreciate them more than the ones who treat them like stock boys and girls. You're going to tell me that if you worked at a place like Binny's (or literally any other customer-facing place) you wouldn't appreciate the regulars more, and maybe do a favor for your favorite customers, from time to time? Seems pretty counter-intuitive to human nature.

Finally, you also have to remember that there are plenty of "regulars" who will get frustrated/potentially shop elsewhere if everything is just thrown to the wolves so randos can buy it all up and potentially trade or flip it online. It's still in a shop's best interests to take care of the regulars, because you create customer loyalty when you treat good customers like you appreciate and acknowledge their business. Non-regulars deserve to buy shit too, but there's nothing wrong with holding some shit back for your good customers.

Great, we haven't had an argument about "regulars" and how they should be treated lately!

You shouldn't be able to buy rare beers unless you were born on June 26th, have a pet dog and have spent $100 per week at an establishment for the last 15 years.

Yeah, I definitely get it, I just don't like the mentality of someone who considers himself a "regular." I worked at a butcher shop growing up, and I definitely enjoyed the conversations with the reoccurring customers. My point was more that there are more people who want to be "regulars" than can be at any store. That leads to those people shopping around at more stores. Would I love to walk into beer temple or binny's and get every single beer I want when it comes out? Of course, but I'm not going to fault them for not doing that even though I've easily spent a couple grand at one and a grand at another in the past year. I'll take what I can get and any info I can to help me get it.

I love calling Pequod's, and they know my name and address right off the bat. Good to be a "regular" there.

If you want that 20 pound tenderloin, I had it in stock. If you want the 230 pound beefcake, baby I'll give you my number.

Yeah, I'm actually in the same boat (just want ONE Binny's to give me a bottle of Pappy!), just sticking up for "regulars" from my old days working retail.

Also great, looks like we've traded pizza arguments for meat puns. Waiting for Blue Dream to come yell at us again. :stuck_out_tongue:

BCBS has always been expensive at Clyborn. It always sells out quickly as well.

It's on tap for $8 for roughly 5 ounces, so you have a choice. Pay a little more or pay a lot more. Either way, it's still enjoyable.

One last point on "regulars"... it's not always just regular customers. Maybe the guys have had a few beers together at or after various releases? I mean, it could just be "drinking buddies" as opposed to "regulars".
