Pretty surprised looking at reviews I saw two people mention Konkey tasting "off". Although they didn't clarify why it was "off". Saw one or two others mention it didn't taste as juicy as past releases.

For those who had Konkey previously, how does the flavor compare to previous batches?

This might be the best batch of Konkey yet. However, I've probably said that about every batch in the past 12+ months. I think it's their most consistent beer. Nothing tasted off to me and it was just as juicy as every other time I've had it. I'm not surprised there were only 1-2 people that said that.

Yeah I think it's a great beer. But some people are always gonna say it's not as good as the last because that's just how certain people are.

As for the line/waiting, I wish they had a more efficient way to get people in and out. I got there at 11:15, stood in line, doors opened and I was probably the 15th person in the non-growler line and I didn't walk out with my beer until 12:50. Not trying to bitch because I love Hoof, but I was getting a little impatient there for a sec. Also, people were triple parked and I got stuck in the middle row! Lol

This batch is every bit as good as the last batch...fantastic. Still my favorite Hoof beer.

Was originally thinking of trading a few cans, but after cracking one open last night and being reminded how good this stuff is, I decided there is no way I'm trading any.

That's great to hear! Was just curious from those who have had the past batches that it was what it should have been. This is the first Konkey we didn't go to, as I expected a total cluster among other things (not wanting more beer right now!). So I enjoyed my last can from the last release instead :stuck_out_tongue:

I see another dual can release on Saturday on Dec 31st. Blabe and Did We Just Become Friends. 480 tickets available for a 10-3 release window.

Can someone enlighten me.. how does proxying work? I saw a guy at the Konkey release yesterday walk up with 3 tickets and get 3 cases of beer himself. I would really like the Blabe and DWJBBF but don't think I'll be able to make it from Cleveland that day. Can I get a ticket and have a proxy pick it up for me? Or how does that work?

Especially with the Ohio State game... yikes. Don't think I'll make that release.

In theory, he should've had two other people with him to use those tickets. Doesn't always happen in practice, from what I've seen....

It'd be nice if I could find more HH in stores in Columbus. Being old with kids and not being able to drive to Marengo for beer releases limits things. Over the past two years, I have only run across South of Heaven and their sour release at Weilands. Besides their brewpub on 4th, are there any other stores where their cans are regularly found?

I don't think they really distribute. If they don't sell out of cans at their releases, they sell them at their brewpub or send them up to Maine. Very very rarely do they got to regular stores (if ever).

I was down in Columbus about a month ago, I'm not from the area, but we stopped in at the north market and there was a beer store there, think its the barrel and the bottle, they had a small bar with taps and stuff for sale. They had a stack of hoof there when I was there. Think this is their page:

Haven't been on BA in a bit and now there's a new thread for Hoof every three months? Haha damn. Anyway...

Came here to say I side-by-sided Musk and IHWSH tonight (latest batches) and these are like the exact same beer. I mean they're both good (gave both a 4.25) but they are just not different at all.

Some of their dipas taste similar but I wouldn't lump IHWSH and musk together.

I was gonna make one after the end of the year for the next six months. BA was being weird... locked this and the Jackie Os thread, only to reopen JOs and not HH. The NE boards makes new threads quite frequently, so they wanted us to match the style... I don't really see the point when HH has 4-5 beers tops per month.

Agreed. IHWSH is really creamy and fruity, but the Musk I had was crisp and primarily citrus. To each his/her own, but I think the DIPAs are fairly different when put side-by-side, while the IPAs are pretty similar.

Couldn't agree more, with the exception of Tickling the Ivories because that single was so creamy.

How busy do you guys think the Blabe release will be on NYE? Think tickets will sell out as fast as Konkey?

I think that day is gonna be a hard sell for some folks, but who knows. I think a double release of DIPAs helps their cause.
