The Half-Acre thread (2018)

Yep, we were definitely there at the same time. I think we got there around Noon, and grabbed a table near the back by the kitchen & bathroom. Too bad I didn't realize you were there, we could've had a beer together.

It is definitely great for the canning to be gaining some momentum - that's one reason I bought a 4 pack of it...maybe the quicker they sell out of these special cans, the more incentive it'll give them to keep doing it.

 

Anyone know if Bodega Dude may make more appearances? I'm not huge into lagers, but I absolutely loved that one and wish they'd make it a staple.

 

I think CofT was really solid. If it has to be compared to NE it is much closer in taste to Focal Banger than anything from Tree House or Trillium. Excited for more like this form HA moving forward.

 

Focal Banger? That's some high praise if true. Now you've got me interested in this damn beer again...

 

That is exactly what it reminded me of. Tastes more like and Alchemist IPA than Treehouse on the spectrum. I was very impressed. I picked up a half case and im considering going back for more.

 

Son of a bitch. Focal's one of my faves. FINE, guess I'll check it out tomorrow.

 

It's in the vein of BHA or GDDC for body and mouthfeel, but no fruity or citrus hops which make those beers. Not very piney either. Flavorful with those harsh, foreign tasting hops that make you wonder if they would be classified as "Australian, New Zealand, or Experimental."

 

To be frank, it is absolutely nothing like Focal Banger (or any IPA of that style).

 

Imagine drinking (and enjoying) an unhopped Navaja while eating grass...

 

Hmm. Taste is objectivly subjective but that is the first beer I thought about when I tasted it. It has a great piney and fruit balance that I get from Focal.

 

Headed to the city for the Hawks game tonight. I was hoping to parlay a trip to HA as well. Please make the 4-packs last!

 

Anybody lined up for Benthic?

I had hoped to be able to grab a Benthic (and possibly Orin) gift pack, but it sounds like this will be gone very quick.

 

I chalked this one up as not obtainable if you work standard hours downtown.

 

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought once I saw how many they had. I quickly thought about heading up at lunch break or working from home, but seeing as I already got some at the release, that made no sense. If I didn't have a bottle yet, I'd be in line, as I think this is a fantastic beer (Benthic).

 

Do you know how many gift boxes they are releasing today?

 

60 Benthic and 50 Orin.

 

There's about 26 people in line. Kudos to the middle aged man that brought both of his elderly parents.

 

Is 'Fog Bowl' new? A collab between Half Acre and Tired Hands has me intrigued. On tap and growlers.
