I think it's an excellent beer to start people off with, if it's the wood ya honey nuts version we are talking about. Showcases what you can do with beer and the amazing flavors you can get out of a beer. It may be the best beer I've had to date. Like drinking roasted honey nuts liquefied. Only beer that comes close or is on that level for me is Handjee. Cannot wait to have it again.

Of course.... I'm extremely biased :grinning:

Quite the rush to judgment that my day is bad. Barring the snow/cold (well, and the Browns), the day's been wonderful. Hope yours has too. Hopefully you've been able to share your advice/opinions with someone much more receptive than me. My apologies for sacrificing clarity for brevity, but I've got things under control. (With what I want to do with the beer, anyway.)

Just so everyone can rest assured, with family, I may not even get them to drink anything beyond their beloved Budweiser. But when I go to beer establishments that may never had any Jackie O's (have traded for any or been to Ohio), I'd like to have some to share with people there.

(I'll probably try to pick up a few different Ohio beers and maybe a PA beer or two to bring with me.)

The option to block members makes this thread much more tolerable. It's like people sign on BA looking for an arguement. Once you block them out you can read the informative posts without all the noise coming from basements of parents with their 35year Olds still living in them. Seriously guys...move out of your parents basement!

^Some guys really can't tolerate a sliver of negativity in their lives. I'm surrounded by it so I guess I feel naked without it--it's my natural habitat.

A lot of thought seems to have been put into this topic today while I've been attending multiple beer events, having a shit ton of fun, possibly with some of you in actual person who may or may not know who I am. I'll respond despite the inner voice telling me not to, since it truly appears you guys actually enjoy this banter, as much as you like to textually pretend you don't.

I thought I wrote a pretty logical, basic response to a pretty confusing post that very overtly, but accidentally--even looking back--refers to trying to ramp up AAL-only drinkers into the most extreme tier of craft beers imaginable.

The sentiment was, if you think introducing a Bud drinker to craft beer via a Wheatwine sounds like a good idea--fucking hilarious. To me, it's an enormous waste of good, expensive ass beer on someone that is going to spit that shit out and look at you like you're fucking out of your gourd. I have seen it dozens, if not hundreds, of times, including just an hour ago.

Now, is it my fault the original poster decided to mash two different circumstances into one? I guess so--in looking at some of the vindictive responses--I should have read his mind while he was passively dictating his own personal deadline to a brewery that has already said they are waiting on labels. So sorry for this being the internet, and reading and interpreting words as written!

So, just to make sure we all have this straight, bottle @NABS Wood Ya now, because: brewery priorities!!!

And, really, who the hell watches and roots for the Cleveland Ravens?! Give me a break. At the very least, put your Baltimore Browns hat on instead. #pleasedon'ttiemylionsperfectrecord

    ^You right. You right.

(As an aside, before I leave to await Brad's reply to my original question, to which I could have gotten an answer and only replied with my "thanks for the info, Brad!", my mom heard me screaming and came down to the basement to yell at me. When she saw me screaming at the screen, she said "Da fuq's your problem?" and I said "Some bully on the internet said I should get out of your basement!" Her reply was "Well, you think for your 38th birthday, for a present, we can find you a place to move in to so your father can try to sleep without you yelling at 10:30 at night? That guy you're yelling at may just be right. You don't HAVE TO live in our basement forever.")

Ya know, I was kinda on your side on this one, but despite my apathy for the NFL these days, please refrain from using Baltimor or Raven while describing my hometown team. I have much distain for the Browns over the lasd decade and a half, but that is going too far. Thank you.

Brad did an interview recently and said the anniversary beers would be barrel aged dark app, scotch barrel dark app, spirit beast, and some other surprises. Can't wait to hear what the surprises will be.

Anyone else think the cheese curds were infected at the last anniversary party? Pretty disappointed, I've still got 3 orders aging in my basement. Hopefully the horseradish sauce is still drinkable.

Was that the regular or the barrel aged? I am sitting on a bunch of regular.

Still holding out hope for the hot pepper/pepper-jack variant.

Has anyone tried the new batch of Oro yet? Tasting much different than any other Oro bottle I've tried. Spices and heat are pretty much non-existent.

I'm drinking an Oro picked up last week and it does lack the spice punch in the face that I love. Still good, but different.

On the topic of sharing the big jackie beers with non-beer people, I shared a black maple with my neighbor last night, in his 60s, told me he doesn't drink beer much, but likes the heavy stuff when he does. He was surprised and enjoyed it, glad I shared it with him. He did have a neck beard though, so maybe he tricked me. That said, share your beers with whoever you want. Jackie beers have been my intro beers for my brother in law too, and he's always enjoys them.

Oro is still developing on some levels. Cinnamon levels were always a concern from customer feed back. We have been slowly dialing the cinnamon back each time. Seems like this recent batch was too soft. The lack of pepper heat came from using a local pepper farmer. His stock was not as potent as what we were buying from the local grocery store chain. Lots of variables to take into account with this beer. I appreciate the discourse and feed back. Touch more cinnamon and heat next time for sure! Oro is also a very complex beer so I take all positive and negative notes equally always striving for the most balanced and dynamic beer possible.
